Passport and Travel Documents - how do you carry them?

In a Samsonite passport wallet. After about 5 weeks of being strapped to my back during a European bus tour left it a little worse for ware. So I invested in a passport wallet to protect it.

I still cannot believe people store valuable things in their carry-on!

My passport is always in my shirt pocket when travelling.

If I have hotel reservations, e-tickets or other print-outs these go in the inside pocket of my jacket. Not hard to store when you fold them envelope style. Occasionally I will take the older style paper ticket travel wallets with me and these are also stored either in the jacket pocket or front pocket of pants.

My wallet with cash and credit cards is on my person at all times. In Thailand I usually wear jeans after golf and the phone, camera and wallet are always in the 2 front pockets.

Thanks for all the ideas peoples!

I am still not decided on if I should buy a travel wallet or not..

But I thank all of you very sincerely for your info and ideas!

Another option re keeping copies is to scan them all and email them to a hotmail/yahoo/gmail type address.

Yes, I'm another with a travel wallet (cheapy by Paklite), paper copies in a separate piece of luggage and email copies as per above.

I had a look at one of these Pacsafe versions instore and it was far too bulky for my liking and over $125, but i'll show it for interest, source here:

Incidentally, someone earlier was asking about family travel wallets, Pacsafe do havea family one, its quite large not to mention ver $75, from here:

Anyone used either of the above Pacsafe models?

My main criteria is:
1) Space for multiple passports inside (at least 2 as I need to carry an older passport around with me)
2) Space for onward boarding passes, immigration forms etc
3) space to fold in itineraries and other documents
4) Some room for a pen
5) Somewhere I can dump my noise cancelling ear buds into
6) External pocket to keep boarding passes into
and
7) Ideally something that I can stick down the pocket in the seat storage area around me.
