Recent MEL-SYD-DFW in J.
No title on BP. As a result, all interactions with the crew on both flights resulted in me being addressed by the wrong title (boo hoo :D).
I had both printed at MEL (not an OLCI - I didn't do it so I don't have the PDF to refer to).

Interestingly enough a few days prior I had NTL-BNE-MEL printed at NTL and the title was there..

Are QF trying to save on toner? If they aren't going to have it, then why not just refer to everyone by their first name?

The title is actually put in by either yourself when you make the booking, or by your booking agent. Not Qantas sorry.
So if it's not put in, you get nothing.

Reminds me of the article earlier this year about the kid who found a way for the US Government to save $600M a year by changing the font they use in documents, which uses less ink.

If your ticket is booked on Gallileo you get for example, Johnmr Smith or Nancyms Jones.

I'd rather not have any title at all.
Not having one on the boarding pass is only a good thing.

I've also lost the title from recent QF BPs (it's still in my profile), and also a letter at the end of my middle name has been 'enhanced' right off. Just waiting for immigration to give me the 3rd degree about it now.....

In line with the cafe breakfasts and the new lounges, given that titles are being removed off BP's: at your origin you will be able to stand next to an over-sized board with your title. A simple and fair table of available titles will be located next to the board.

A friend of mine's first name is Pedr.

He usually gets his boarding pass "auto corrected" to Dr Pe.

he lives in constant terror that there will be a medical emergency on board and he will be asked to assist.

Why are you booking with your middle name?

Why are you booking with your middle name?

A reasonable enough question... and I don't actually know why! My full name has always been in my profile/s as I've probably subconsciously connected the immigration requirements for many countries to the ticketing, etc.

This said, I have plenty of used BPs where they only show first and last names, regardless of ticketing... so it could be time to make things... simpler... and save the airlines a fraction of a cent in printing at the same time! ;)

Cheers.

For the last year or perhaps three, travel within the USA has required middle names (not just an initial) within the booking.

Last year at LAX I had to change my OLCI QF BP showing my middle initial for a standard one showing my full name before I could go through security at TBIT.

There you go, my subconscious is not crazy :)

I have a boarding pass from Sunday's (2 days ago) SYD-BNE flight printed both from kiosk and lounge and both are in format of

K/JOHN MR

Really ? I have travelled a fair bit recently to / from the USA and on separate domestic bookings (UA DL VX AS AA) only used first / last name when making the booking. I know passport details are captured for INT bookings however on all boarding passes ( INT and DOM) only my first / last name was included .

I did have issues flying JFK LHR on BA and the boarding pass printed only my first initial and not my full first name... I was sent back to the BA desk to have reprinted.

I was not permitted to enter into the lane for South security at TBIT - had to go back to the QF check-in desk to get new BP - this was in 2013.

Interesting. Any idea what happens if you don't have a middle name?
