Passenger posted a Facebook rant about Jetstar the 'worst flight of her life'

So the passenger says she doesn't really care what seat she is given, then complains about the seat she was given?

Getting sick and tired of these passenger gripes getting air time. Yes some seats don't have a window. It's the same for aircraft operated by Qantas, Virgin Australia and lots of other airlines. If you want a particular seat, pay for it. If you choose not to, then so be it.

Same applies to the lady who snapped her Achilles. Sorry that she was injured, but if she wanted/needed a business class seat to travel, she should have paid for it. The airline doesn't owe her anything. If you fly low cost and want extras, you pay for them, simple. If you don't take out travel insurance to cover the situation where you injure yourself and need extra care or a bigger seat to get home, then so be it.

If the baggage rules state you get to take a number of 23kg bags but you throw 25kg into the one bag, it's a fail by you, not the airline that is simply applying its rules.

If you fall 10 credits, or maybe 1 sector, short of requalifying for status, that's your fault. The thresholds are published, either achieve them or don't requalify. Take responsibility for yourself, and stop expecting something for almost getting there but not quite. Perhaps airlines should start handing out status encouragement awards instead, much like the trophies average kids in junior sport receive so they get to feel special too even though they aren't quite good enough to win a real award.

It seems a lot of people expect airlines to make them the exception. Rules are rules, and business is business. My wish for 2016 (alongside winning lotto numbers and unlimited F class travel on SQ) is for people to stop complaining when airlines consistently apply their rules as published rather than treating them as an exception to those rules.

Ok I'm getting off my soapbox now. Happy 2016 everyone!

If being in the last row without a window is the worst flight of your life, you simply haven't flown enough.

I though the same thing and its exactly why i do pay for seat selection. Don't hold anything against her for putting it out there though. This could also work for the airline who is getting a free promotion on why you should pay for seat selection.

They moved other passengers about, gave her and her companion an empty seat at the front of the plane. But how rude for not going to the effort of upgrading her to business class for free!

TV reporter’s Jetstar nightmare (NOT!)

An over the top and untrue headline but it makes good copy.

Jodi Lee snapped her Achilles tendon when she was in coughet and took to Facebook to hit out at Jetstar after what she believed was “blatant disregard for customer service”.

In the rant she posted to the airline’s Facebook page, the WIN journalist said she was refused a seat upgrade even though she had a letter from a doctor saying the leg should be elevated.

To add insult to injury, she was then forced to pay for a pillow to prop her leg up.

And JetStar's response:

A Jetstar spokesman told news.com.au Ms Lee was assigned an empty row so she would have a seat with more legroom.

“It’s disappointing that Ms Lee’s experience with us didn’t meet her expectations but our team did try to make her flight with us more comfortable.

“We didn’t agree to her request for a free upgrade to business, but did organise an empty seat next to her and allocated her and the person she was travelling with seats towards the front of the aircraft so her flight was more comfortable.”

Economy passengers had to buy a comfort pack, including a pillow, on top of their airfare

Frankly all I can say is well done to JetStar, No free upgrade for a whinging DYKWIA reporter from the sticks who probably shouldn't have been flying. She got an empty seat beside her and an upfront seat others have to pay for so what else does she want?

The only way to keep the leg raised on JQ is to have an empty row in Y. The "J" seat is closer to a Y+ product and has fixed armrests so the airline has already done the best possible to meet the recommendations set out by her doctors and surgeons.

Even when people pays $$$ traveling in J, you could be in seats with no window and/or next to loos.

TG, SQ immediately come to my mind.

This sort of ill-informed rant reflected poorly on the ranter(s) IMHO.

You fail to make a decision (read up, ask, seek advice or pay extra ...), and when it's not to your dream specs, it's time for a Facebook rant ?

Is that the world we are heading towards? Everyone is responsible for me except myself ?

BTW, they don't even know about the angst we sometimes have deciding between 5A vs 3K on QF F.

About the injured pax, I fail to remember any T & C of any airline which promises J upgrade if you have a medical letter.

Has anyone seen that ?

Is that the world we are heading towards? UNFORTUNATELY - YES! Everyone is responsible for me except myself ? AGAIN, UNFORTUNATLEY YES!

I'm 69 in March, so I'm an "old fart"! And I see this sort of "thing" happening all the time. I fear for the world that my 5 grand-daughters will inherit.

You young thing.I turn 69 tomorrow but will be working.
But I agree with you despite your lack of years!:p;)

I wonder if Travel insurance would cover an upgrade on the airline for say the next day or even another airline, provided it was ordered by a doctor.

Yes Travel insurance can do that ! I have been witness to this many times.

This is so true actually more uncomfortable unless your fit enough and have enough ethanol to numb your backside.

Nope have not seen it, otherwise there would be lots of letters around pertaining to all sorts of dubious conditions. For the life of me I cannot think of one medical condition mandating an upgrade using this system. User pays usually.

This is all very different when doing medical repatriations over long distances. The conditions are then necessitating an medical escort. However not always in Business.

No. It's right up there with unicorns and flying pigs.

Maybe if she had travel insurance the company would have paid for a business class seat however having flown in J on a JQ 788 you certainly can't elevate your leg so she would have been much better sticking with the row of economy seats JQ allocated her which would enable you to elevate her leg which was after all the doctors orders.

It sounds like an episode of The Embassy or Bangkok Airport where Aussies from the shallow end of the gene pool demonstrate a whole new level of stupid.
