Is this new thing? I don't ever remember reading about it.

If my Wife gets partner gold, can she make it to planinum with only an earn of 700SC's? That would be nice. It is looking like she will have that sort of travel next year.

Not, it has been around for many years. The first time I qualified was back in 2000, but I never used it as Mrs NM did not travel anywhere that year. Unfortunately they would not defer it for a year until she was planning to travel, so that year I purchased a partner Qantas Club membership for her.

No, she still requires 1400 SCs to make Platinum. But if she makes 2100 SCs in the year she can return the favour to you . Now what happens in a family with two Partner Gold members?

Thanks for that NM, is there _any_ difference between Gold obtained with 700SC's and Partner Gold? would you get the same preference with waitlists etc?

This is where QF and SQ do better than NZ in the partner status. While NZ has partner Gold Elite (ie top tier), it is only recognised by NZ, at least officially ;) as it does not confer *G status.

SQ is even better with supplementary PPS having not only top tier (treated same as other PPS albeit wont have a year count for ranking within PPS) but also *G status so recognised throughout *A.

Of course they all have rules about who can be conferred with partner status.

In about three weeks I will have "Partner Gold"; thereby saving me the $215 cost of renewing mrs serfty's Partner QP Membership.

It has the additional benefit of a 50% miles bonus when she travels on eligible carriers/fares. e.g. Last Week MEL-BNE, she got 1000 points, in July she would get ~1250.

What do your reckon they would make of the cabin food?
I reckon they would turn their noses up at it. Economy passengers get the food that the cats in the hold (flying partner gold) reject. :D

Checking mrs serfty'a FF account today and noticed the following:
Code:
Current Status: Gold
Status reassessment will occur: 31 Oct 2007
Status credits earned from 01 Nov 2005: 30
Additional Status credits required by 31 Oct 2006 to attain Platinum: 1,370
No correspondance yet, but she was already Partner QP.
