Partner airline flight cancellation

Hi all,

I have a OWCA booked. The first leg is ADL>PER on QF then PER>KUL on MH then KUL>HKT on MH then HKT>DOH>LHR on QR (convoluted way to get to Europe I know!).

The KUL>HKT (MH) flight has been cancelled as they are no longer flying that route on that particular day anymore.

This leaves a gap in my route to LHR. There are no other Oneworld flights between KUL & HKT. I have spoken with Qantas and pushed them to put in a request to Qatar to see if they would open up award seats on a flight ADL>DOH. They said they have put the request in with Oneworld.

Is there any chance at all that this may come off? I'm thinking a low chance as it was not a QR flight which got cancelled to cause this. Or is there anything I can do to increase the likelihood of it happening?

My other alternatives I have in mind tfor getting QF to resolve this:
1. The above mentioned QR flight to be opened up for ADL>DOH
2. Try to get QR to open up award seats on KUL>DOH flight
3. Try to get MH to open up award seats on KUL>DOH flight (more likely as an MH flight?)
4. Try to get QF to open up award seats on their own metal on PER>LHR flight

There are no award seats available on the above mentioned flights, so the airline would need to open them up. The first two maybe unlikely as QR didn't cancel the flight or make this booking? Second two maybe more achievable, but any opinions on the above options and likelihood?

The order above is my order of preference for flights. Really want to go on QR, have never been on a business flight before! (aside from Jetstar).

Thanks!

Hate so say it, but as it's MH that has caused the problem, neither QR or QF will open up seats for you. :-( I'd actually see if I could get a paid/cheap $$ seat KUL HKT, or check availability from ADL to HKT on either points or $$.
Do you think its likely MH could open up seats on KUL>DOH?

Was originally going to buy a revenue fare for KUL>HKT but it means then if there is a cancellation or delay then I am on two separate legs and if say the ADL>PER flight gets cancelled and I miss the flight to KUL then there is no obligation to get me to LHR, just to KUL. And I will then miss the second portion of that leg and hence my whole OWCA will then be gone as I would be classed as a no show. So I am looking at any options to keep a continuous strong of flights for this leg.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Nope, Economy 38,500 or business 119,800 Kuala Lumpur Bangkok Doha

So your new routing would be ADL PER KUL BKK DOH .......
Sorry I should have said, booking is for 2pax. That flight only has one.

Between QF, BA and ExpertFlyer I am pretty well versed with searching for award availability. Only Oneworld flights that could work (to get me to Doha for a 1:20am flight on 14/09) is KUL>KTM>DOH. But I really don't want to spend a day in KTM. There is no other option hence why trying to get Qatar (and failing that MH or QF) to release some seats.

Thank you for looking though!

I think just buy a cheapie KUL-HKT. yes a PITA but given it's like 6 weeks away and QF have about as much sway with QR as I have with the PM I reckon you're out of luck trying to get anything out of QF (unless they'd open up PER-LHR on the 9 for you? unlikely - if there are even seats in J).

this is the most annoying but probably easiest in the end path

Yes it is looking like that will be what just ends up happening. Trying to avoid that though as then my leg to LHR will be broken into two sectors. If say the first flight to Perth is cancelled then they only have an obligation to get me to KUL and not LHR, so I may then miss my flight from HKT and be classed as a no show. If that happens then I forfeit all other flights on the OWCA (multiple other long haul business class flights!). Just want to avoid that risk if I can.

ExpertFlyer is showing J seats available on PER>LHR direct QF flight. That will be my last option of asking something out of QF as I would like to still try and fly QR if I can.

I spoke to what seemed to be a competent South African agent today. They also put in my other preference for a seat release request with MH, for KUL to DOH. That could be more of a chance as it was MH who cancelled the flight to cause this disruption in the route.

Not really expecting anything to come back really. Just bloody annoying.

Hi @squid01 did QF end up getting QR to release seats, and did QR approve?
Absolutely nothing has been resolved, despite numerous lengthy calls to QF. I even tried to call QR direct. Nothing back from MH or QR regarding the requests they put through, but then again subsequent agents can't find the original requests so go figure. They say they follow them up/put another request in but who knows.

I have been chasing up another cancellation for AA (for 8 weeks) where they put me on an early flight I cant make so I requested to change it to the later flight and they open up seats but nothing. No matter how much I push for the QF agent to escalate it or do something other than email AA or Oneworld they won't.

I kind of give up now. I'm just going to have the gap between KUL and HKT and make my own way. I have a fair chunk of time between those two points on the route, and a few different flight options should any cancel or delay.

Dreading having to get this OWCA re-ticketed due to dropping this flight. Also scared it may now count as a stopover instead of a transit and it won't cap out on OWCA points. I hate Qantas.

I'm in the process of dealing with the same issue. QR cancelled my connection leg and put me on a later flight out of DOH so now it is a stopover - which wont work for me due to Soccer world cup entry restrictions DOH has applied for now. Tried to get QF to ask QR to move my first leg a day forward so the transit in DOH is 2h 50mins which is plenty.
Previously, they would get on a call to QR or the Oneworld help desk to request this but now they can only email and have to wait for QR to reply. It has been a week now and multiple calls to QF to ask them to check but I feel like all the CSA I speak to doesn't know what is going on. Same generic response "we are still waiting for QR to get back to us" - I don't believe QR customer service is as bad as QF, so I think all the CSA i speak to at QF just doesn't know what to do.
I hate Qantas too right now. This is really a mission. I just want an answer from QR if they will accept or not accept.

Yep that has been my life for the past two months. I give up.
