Overnight I received the following e-mail from the Parmelia Hilton team

From 8 December this year, we will commence a major renovation of the hotel including guest rooms, bathrooms, corridors, the lobby and front entrance, and the addition of a brand new executive lounge.

Guest rooms will offer up-to-the-minute technology including built in charging USBs and Smart TVs. Bathrooms will be completely modernised with contemporary lines, offering more storage options and functionality. New air conditioners will ensure you are completely comfortable no matter the weather!

The lobby will be substantially extended to enhance your arrival experience, with spacious and comfortable seating areas to rest awhile.

We are especially excited to announce the addition of an executive lounge on ground level, offering exclusive benefits to eligible guests.

The hotel will continue to operate during this period, with all works due for completion by end September 2020. There will be some disruption during business hours Monday to Friday, and Saturday from 10am to 5pm, with a temporary lobby and the closure of the swimming pool and gym until May 2020.

Adelphi Grill will close temporarily for lunch and dinner after breakfast on Friday 27 December and reopen for dinner on Monday 13 January, for a refresh. Breakfast will continue to be served in Adelphi Grill during this period, Monday to Friday 6:30am to 9:30am, and Saturday, Sunday and public holidays 7:00am to 10:00am.

The Parmelia has IMHO the best Hilton staff in Australia and it's great that the Hotel is getting a much needed refurbishment.

Should be good when completed. I thought the staff were lovely and was happy with the room (upgraded to a suite with balcony) but at this stage, would still pick the Perth Doubletree for location. So much easier to get around, restaruants ect if you dont have a car

The Ritz Carlton - Perth opened nearby at Elizabeth Quay last week, so a bit of competition for the very old Hilton. The Queen and Prince Philip actually stayed at the Hilton many years ago when our old Government House needed repairs.

The Ritz - will have brand new bells and whistles and lots of advertising, but as you mention it’s the staff and their experience levels that elevate a hotel stay from being just pleasant to an exceptional one.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Yes, finally.

It's got to be competition-driven. I'm not that frequent a visitor to Perth but have recently switched all my stay to the DT at Northbridge and will try the one at Elizabeth Quay when it opens too. Having a lounge is important to me.

About time, I guess they were starting to feel the heat. It was/is a great location if you're attending events at the convention centre.

Agreed. Great staff.
Gonna miss the tapas plate and a glass of red offered in lieu of the executive lounge.
Wonder where it will be?
Either where the business centre is now , or the offices opposite maybe?

I was there last week for 3 nights and spoke at length to the F&B Manager about it one quiet night. Also have the 2 page explanation and photos that I will post later tonight. Should answer most of the questions.

Yes, the new Ritz Carlton at Elizabeth Quay has been one of the main reasons for the upgrade, along with the upcoming DT (at which a number of the F&B servers may be moving). I went to a meeting at the Lucky Shag (a pub down on Elizabeth Quay) so will also post relevant photos of the RC.

This is news about 5 years too late :)
We’ve switched all our company travel away from the Hilton to newer more contemporary offerings in Perth.
Will venture back when the refurb is complete but they have fallen way behind the market so better be spectacular!

Their opposition, the brand new Ritz Carlton on Elizabeth Quay (down where the new DT will be situated):
