Parenting across state borders

Have people been able to cross state borders for shared parenting arrangements?
I have a friend who lives in the ACT, but his kids live in Victoria. He is supposed to get his kids over the school holidays, but he hasn't tried since the lock-downs came into effect. He's at this stage working out what he is going to do with the July school holidays.

Just curious what other peoples experiences have been in similar situations right now?

(No it's not me, yes I did ask my mate before I posted)

I'm sure Vic/ACT(NSW) movement is currently ok for essential reasons.

My understanding was parenting arrangements were exempt from the rules.

I've got a couple of sprogs in QLD that fly down for school holidays. I had them booked for the April holidays which had to be cancelled. Hoping July holidays works out with flight availability and government rules.

I know of kids from lower north coast, NSW who travelled to their father in Canberra for the school holidays without any problems.

there is a zillion reasons why crossing the border can be approved. I know a guy who got one to visit his mum on her birthday.

Thanks all, I've passed on your thoughts, along with my own which were:

Shared parenting was always excluded from restrictions and was always considered a valid reason to travel.
Of course it's easy for me to say that sitting on the side lines. In saying that this mate is a great dad, and I can only imagine what it'd be like to be split from kids right now. He's also quite nervous about putting a foot wrong, so I was interested to know what others experiences had been to try and put his mind at ease..

Fingers cross that this will soon become nothing more than a very strange time in history, and nothing more.
