Paper towels enhanced from lounges?

Every domestic lounge I’ve been to recently either doesn’t have paper towels or has it just in the shower suites.

I've noticed that they have put the facial paper towels in the slots where the large towels used to be.

PS. EK Syd INT has cloth towels!

..and SYD INT F lounge still has the paper towels, where once were cloth towels!

Likely because cloth towels "aren't recyclable" ......wait a moment 🤔🤣

PER J lounge last week. Clearly people are using the tissues to dry their hands. Good thing tissues are recyclable...

No paper towels, dryers only in BNE Intl lounge on Friday 5/9 and SYD Domestic J Lounge on Monday morning 8/9.
Singapore F still had them on Sunday night.

I saw the signs about paper towels not being recyclable ... and thought that may be true, but they are certainly compostable. Hard to stop the rubbish from being contaminated with other items that aren't compostable, though.

Wouldn't you end up with little pieces of tissue stuck to you?

Qantas really need to wake up on this

I would have thought so too. There used to be a single air dryer directly behind you when facing the sink. There are two now. I saw some guy wash his hands and look around for how to dry them. It was obvious to him where the driers were till I pointed it out.

The newer ones have a drier under the mirror above the sink.

I should have brought the cloth napkin in with me from the cantina at BNE domestic:

Plenty of paper towels are recyclable. Indeed, many brands are themselves made of recycled paper.

If the brand they were using previously wasn't, okie dokey, but what a silly red herring of an excuse this is to ditch them entirely.

Does anyone even buy this greenwashed cost cutting?

And even if not recyclable, paper towels are compostible. So really, it's QF green washing to save a buck.

Recycle or compost much the same issues. It is difficult to do either because of contamination of the towels. There could be anything in them. Also, I have read, paper towels have short fibres which makes them difficult to recycle effectively.
