More chance of winning lotto than getting killed in an aircraft accident. Let's put things in perspective.

I'm willing to gamble on both.
Lotto is not gambling ... its a short-term, high-risk investment.

I don't see my air travel as either short-term nor high-risk. But my FF points are an investment :D .

If you hope to win, it must be considered a long term investment :)

Despite the fact the aircraft are well maintained are are perhaps the best of their type, it would still be in the back of my mind that I am stepping in a vintage aircraft. There have been great improvements in aircraft safety and engine reliability in the last thirty years...maybe some of the free booze on board might soothe the jitters

History of current OZjet fleet ....
I originally looked at that list when OzJet announced that they were to start flying. The only 2 recognisable carriers, to me anyway, are Malayasian Air and Gulf Air. Most of the other carriers are LCC's and I think we are all aware what happens to maintenance with some LCC's.

My main concern is that if these planes have not been maintained properly what sort of damage has been caused to the future of the plane? If a new car is not maintained properly in the beginning problems start to appear later on it's life.

Not implying that OzJet will do the same. Just a concern about the previous owners of the planes.

SABENA is a fairly recognisable name. Was a pretty major European airline

Got to be wooried about how many screws are left over after servicing...West African Airlines have a shady reputation, and LCC's tend to keep costs pared to the bone...

But leaving out a few screws saves on weight and hence reduces fuel costs.

Now I know why I am not a LAME. Each time I pull the dashboard apart in my car I end up with more screws left over. I used to leave them in the centre console ready for next time, but after pulling it out about 8 times I just found the pile of leftovers was growing. Mrs NM used to comment that if I pulled it out many more times I could build a new one with the leftovers.

ROFLMAO. This is too good. Come on NM you can't be doing this anymore, someone may end with heart failure

Don't need to do it anymore (remove the dash :D ) since I have now passed that vehicle on to greener pastures 8) . These modern cars are not made to be tinkered with. But that 22 year old beast was not worth paying someone else to do it.

But if the new owner ever pulls that dash out again, perhaps they will find the paces for all those leftover screws. Either that, or they might find the dash drops down on their legs one day while driving along  .

These days it's all clip together; need a service manual to know exactly where to apply pressure so the panels pop apart.

Nothing like the comfort of seeing the top of a screw and whacking that phillips head screwdriver into it, then turning. ...

Darn, so that's where I went wrong. I kept using the vice grips to yank them out. No wonder I would not get them to go back in.

Thank heavens for Gaff Tape :D .
