Can’t recommend highly enough the trip we have just done to Zambia and Tanzania.
Whilst expensive in total was value for money. What we got and saw was just amazing.
The people were fantastic. The arrangements all went like clockwork. Food, drinks etc. all included.
Check out Robin Pope Safaris. We flew with South African Airways who were outstanding along with Proflight and Scenic Air for our charter plane.
22/7 SAA on Virgin to Perth.
22/7 SAA to Johannesburg
23/7 sightseeing Joberg
24/7 SAA to Lusaka
24/7 Proflight to Mfuwe – travel by truck to Nsefu camp; night safari; first pride of lions; then dinner.
28/7 Safari truck travel to next camp – Tena Tena
31/7 Canoe river crossing; safari truck to Luangwa house
4/8 Safari truck to Mfuwe airport charter plane to Lami Serengeti Camp - dirt airstrip on the Serengeti- safari truck to camp.
8/8 Charter plane to Kilimanjaro Airport – clear customs etc; charter plane to Nairobi; SAA to Joberg; SAA to Perth; Qantas to Adelaide- arrive home 21:45 9/8.

Animals close enough to touch from our truck (of course we didn’t!) Lions, Baboons, Elephants, Zebra. Baboons even tried to pinch afternoon tea cake. Elephant didn’t like us so charged at truck but was a big bluff. Lions just walked around us as did giraffes. Every night almost ran into Hippos- all coming up to graze. Warthogs, birds, wildebeest, ostrich, antelopes, rhinos, monkeys, mongoose, hyenas, wild dogs, crocodiles.

Our days at the camps were hectic

5:15 – wake-up
5:45 – breakfast
6:15 – morning safari
9:45 – morning tea
11:30 – 2 course lunch
12:30 - Siesta – own time in camp
3:45 – afternoon tea
4:15 - night safari
6:00 - sundowners (gin and tonic to watch sunset)
8:15 – 3 course dinner
9:30ish – night cap – usually for me a Chivas Regal or a Glenfiddoch.

Then do it all again the next day!

Not really necessary to reduce size :)

But what this really needs is a Trip Report.

Please!

Don't be daunted - they come in all types and sizes.

I am not going to show my wife this thread (she has been suggesting Africa for ages).

A couple of questions.
What vaccinations, if any, were needed?
When you say "expensive" - would you feel inclined to elaborate?
Regards,
Renato
