My brother's account will also receive 3000 bonus points.

WHAT?

You're kidding?

I have nothing like that.

This is my email in its entirety

No, I kid you not. Copied and pasted from my QF email. Corresponding cut & paste from Optus email confirms:

Bonus Qantas Points to wrap things up
June is the last month of the partnership, and when it ends we’ll be giving 1000 bonus points to QFF number [xx_xx]. They’ll be added automatically at the end of July, 2015 - as long as the Optus account and service that’s earning your Qantas Points is still active. If you need some more details about what these changes mean please visit optus.com.au/qffpoints or chat now with a customer care representative via webchat or call our customer care team on 1300 720 084.

Seems they have sent different emails, but not sure why (what is the difference between all our services? - I just have 2 mobile phones on Optus account). But I need to check my wifes account, as she has the account for our home phone & wifi.

this just looks like a cost saving measure from Optus, as they shift their australian holdings on to the Singapore stock exchange.

this may effect Qantas' income, as Optus would have been one of their larger purchases of the QFF points outside of the credit card providers, especially since Optus have nearly 10 million subscribers and many of those would have multiple subscribers to their other services.

Looks like Qantas share price might drop slightly due to this.

It would be interesting to see who picks up the slack from optus dropping off though

Shame, this use to be a nice earner for me (before I moved to telstra)
Wonder if they'll replace it with anything, doubtful but it shouldn't be too difficult as they have an existing relationship with virgin - Optus do own virgin mobile afterall, and you earn velocity points with virgin post paid contracts.

I have one phone on a business acct.

I expect the number of bonus points offered is more to do with the average number of points earned in recent months rather than any specific type of product/service currently purchased from Optus. In my case, my bonus is approx 8 times my average monthly points earning from my Optus services. Mine could also be calculated as 10 x average monthly earning rounded down to nearest thousand points, with the assumption that they are giving us 2 months notice so effectively 12 months of points if we stay until after July. Personally I think is quite generous for a partner leaving the program. It was great while it lasted, and the partnership and points earning was a factor considered when I selected telco services in the last few years. This change removes any reason I have for remaining loyal to Optus and future decisions will be based price/service offered.

So i called optus tonight...

Apparently my dubious payment history is the reason I have not got any bonus points.

Apparently the fact that my plan is higher than my sister per month and that I do pay it eventually means NOTHING!

Please someone with a low 'bonus' amount tell me they have a perfect record of paying so i can argue with that!

Or someone with a low amount tell me they are perfect!

Never fear Bankwest is here.

Sounds fair to me, at the end of the day they are under no obligation to pay you anything, that's the nature of bonuses.

No thanks. I like Optus, their service, their products and their balance of coverage & cost. Getting points was simply a bonus/icing on my cake.

I'll be staying with them.

No great loss from my perspective. They failed to sort out my points for two new accounts anyway. Value was minimal as I hardly use the phone to make calls anymore. It's a concession for my parents.
