Does anybody have experience in how to either cancel or change an aware redemption on MH (made online through their Enrich site), and what the associated costs are?

E.g. if cancel, do you forfeit some or all points? Do you get the taxes/fees back?

If you want to change, can you do this online, or is it via phone? And do any additional fees apply?

Booking in question is coming up in 3 weeks time. Looking to move this out by 2 to 3 months.

Appreciate the assistance.

Cheers

I did a points plus cash award the other week. The conditions say there is a nominal change fee, USD20/40/?? depending on destination. I would also assume that fare difference would apply. Cancellation results in loss of points but cash payment is refunded. This is all on the bottom of the email that has the booking details.

I think your only option to change would be to call. I have had no success getting the online manage booking system to work with Malaysia Airlines for 1 cash booking and this award booking.

Thanks medhead - just looked and yes, can see the test at the bottom of the conf email.

Will report back on how this plays out in case useful to others in future.

You loose all your points on cancel but get taxes back (maybe a small fee less although can't remember)

You can change for upto 1 year on same sector with same names.

Its the greatest draw back of their Points system- no refunds, otherwise I would use MH more

They are good for late notice J/F bookings shortly before you need to go as far as availability is concerned

Quick update based on my dealings with MH today:

- Called them up (don't think it's possible to change on line)
- Very easy and pleasant transaction whereby I pushed the date out by around 3 months
- Same sectors
- USD $20 charge for the change

That's it - all good!

Well done. Good to hear it all went smoothly. They don't give you a refund of points once you've made a redemption booking but changing is usually pretty easy. I've never had any problems doing that previously.

I cancelled 2 (independently booked) redemption flights when my kids got cold feet after 2nd MH loss.
MH offered full refund and points reinstatement during the first few days after the Ukraine tragedy so I called up, at that time, to cancel.
First refund appeared on card in late October, and 2nd refund appeared yesterday after a few phone calls, some 5 months later.......
Still no sign of the points.....
Call centre is a disaster, as is their back room, I suspect.

Despite all of this I am very happy to fly MH and have taken 4 flights since September.
I'd just like my points back so I can book some more J flights!!!

First lot of points back in account. Still waiting for the rest.
Only 6 months for process to complete

Wondering whether anyone has changed their booking since the award price increase?

I called to make a date change for an award booking, and they wanted to charge the new increased miles! Very NOT happy.

I have and they just charged me the USD20. I was only changing the return flight.

That is good to know, maybe it is worth another call or two. I was also attempting to postpone the return date by 4 days. I don't have any status though, don't know whether that makes a difference.
