Option coming to Buy AMEX MR points

The experiences in this thread suggest that you can buy points for frequent traveller rewards, but the T&Cs specifically exclude them. I'm wondering are Amex being more liberal about this than their T&Cs are saying they will?
I called up last Wednesday evening to buy some points for a booking I was about to do and the Lady I spoke to at Amex said I can't buy them to transfer to QFF but I had enquired several weeks earlier and was told I could, and that when you purchase the points they must be transferred straight away. When I mentioned this she checked for me and came back telling me that previously you couldn't transfer to airline partners but that now you can and she hadn't realized it had changed. I purchased the points and she said that the cut off time for transfer to QFF is 5pm and it was 6.30pm when I called so they wouldn't be there Thursday and since it was Good Friday the next day they probably wouldn't be there until next Tuesday, after the Easter break. However they were posted in my QFF account on Thursday, by 10am.

So if I wanted to buy 5000 MR points it will cost me $100?

And once I purchase it will they transfer for me to QF program straight away or do i need to do it online myself?

Thanks,
K.

5000 points would cost you $125. Amex charge 2.5 cents per point. I purchased 6000 points and it cost me $150. They transferred the points to QFF for me while I was still on the phone and they were there the next day.

You can also get 5000 points by making a $150 donation to Multiple Sclerosis through the Amex website under Bonus Partners and since the donation is a tax deduction it could be worth considering compared with the $125 for buying the points through Amex depending on your tax rate.

Shouldn't it cost $200 then?

Just bought 7000 as I was short of a KF redemption. The lady on the phone was a bit unaware of the procedure and had to put me on hold to speak to someone. But beside that it worked quite well and points were in my account within an hour. Transfered them out to KF on the same day, received there within two days.

Good to know if I need a few extra miles for my KF account. Do you also double dip by earning MR points on the purchase?
