Hi,

My daughter and partner are travelling Hobart to Brisbane next week on JetStar.

I want to use 2 lounge vouchers for them, but I just wonder if they are worthwhile.

Sure, it is only a regional lounge, but they are facing a long time on Jetstar.

The trouble is that the lounge only opens 1 hour before Qantas flights – most flights out of HBA are Jetstar, a few are Qantas link and a very few are actually qf mainline services.

Their flight departs 2050 hrs and the closest QF or Qlink departure leaves at 0950 hrs.

The rest all day are Jetstar.

Does this mean that the lounge closes after the 0950 hr flight or does it actually stay open to serve JQ departures into the evening ?

The official opening hours are "one hour prior to each Qantas operated service until last Qantas departure."

It will be open until the last QF / QFLink departure of the day - virtually no chance of it being open until 2050 if the last QF departure is 0950.

Ta for that.
Latest QF or QLink departure that I can find for any destination is midday so I assume it closes then.
I guess that is one of the problems with non commercially important destinations like HBA served mainly by JQ - lounge access for pm flights may just not be available even for Qantas Lounge members.

Are they flying on a Saturday?

ExpertFlyer shows QF1536 HBA-MEL is scheduled to depart at 1925 every day except Saturday - but that would only mean the lounge is open 1825-1925 which probably isn't much use to them.

QF1574 HBA-BNE departs at 1830 on Saturdays. (I think this is the last QF departure of the day)

With the lounge passes...

1. check they can be used for access under covid conditions
2. if they have JQ flights you won't be able to lionk an electronic lounge pass to them so unless they are paper, or were booked and show up as a valid booking on QF website that can be linked to you may have a problem with that aspect....

I'm outside the HBA lounge now but no opening times listedIMG_20210101_193222.jpg

Just to clarify, for the benefit of those unfortunate enough not to live in Tasmania and who come to visit our beautiful island ( ;) ) .... when the time comes to return ...

The Hobart lounge opens one hour before each Qantas departure, and closes in effect once boarding commences.

Qantas flights are few and far between - tomorrow for example there are six in total, three of which are clustered close together in the late afternoon/early evening. By way of an example, it will be closed from 12:30 to 17:00.

Most Jetstar flights (tomorrow there are nine) occur outside the Qantas lounge restricted opening hours. I can only see one Jetstar flight tomorrow - 17:55 to Melbourne, JQ 712 - where lounge access will likely be available.

That's pretty much a typical day right now.

Thank you for clarifying this.

You're welcome, sorry I didn't notice your post and reply sooner! Hope they had a good flight.

I travel to and from BNE quite a lot, and with the current lounge situation being what it is generally find it rather annoying. Tasmanians spend as much to get Gold or Platinum status as any other Australians, yet we always seem to get shafted by Qantas.

Right now I'm finding Virgin's Economy X a nicer option.

Qantas fly from Brisbane to HBA I thought?

They have brought this back recently, flights are irregular, not every day, different times when they do (usually late afternoon, no good for me) and often using 717s - cramped seats and less legroom, especially row 4. I would honestly choose Jetstar over this.
