YES ! I bought a great handbag on our last trip to Japan :D.

While waiting for the clouds/mist/fog to lift so we could see Mt Fuji I found a great range of bags made from lacquered deerskin !!

I bought some of that last time. Small coin purses as gifts. Though it was in Takayama.
 
How much were they? I have Xmas presents to buy.

Make sure you have your passport with you, when I bought my handbag the shop did an instant VAT refund - so it came off the purchase price before I paid with my CC - I cant remember what the minimum spend is cause my handbag was way over that ! :D
