WTF are these commenters on?:-|:p
Reminds me of a South Park ep where someone takes a dump in a urinal and they blame 9-11 and the government for it!

I think it was CARTMAN :D
Maybe an episode on Tiger would be a winner:D:D

I wonder if that Airlines(?) show was filming this morning? Customers turning up for their flights and being told the bad news by security guards.

Gotta feel a little for those poor people at the check-in desks that aren't Tiger employees ... just saw video on TV of some [would-be]passengers really ripping into them. :(

Re: Ooh Tiger, you did it again and are grounded - fly below LSALT (lowest safe altit

Watching all the news articles tonight - I love how the passengers seem more upset thier holidays are affected, rather than the bigger issue which is the fact Tiger is unsafe. The fact the guy from the engineers union (who I dispise) said he wouldn't fly with them, that speaks volumes.

Re: Ooh Tiger, you did it again and are grounded - fly below LSALT (lowest safe altit

I do hope people don't start 'Dancing on Tiger's grave' so to speak because I have it on good authority that the other commercial airlines operating in
Australia may not be all that squeaky clean themselves,a friend who is a LAME with very many years of experience tells me that this year alone he is
aware of three airlines, one of which is Tiger, that have received letters from CASA notifying them of serious breaches in maintenance practices and requiring them to correct the
problems or a show cause notice would be issued.
I'm unaware of whether any show cause notices were actually issued but I suspect that if they had been we would have heard about it so it's probably
fairly safe to assume that the issues were addressed to the satisfaction of CASA however the mere fact that letters were sent serves as an indication
that the Australian aviation scene may not be as perfect as we perhaps like to think it is.

It's a shame that Aerocare's managers are allowing their employees to be filmed like that for the TV crew.

If this happened at QF, there would be a duty manager basically telling them to go away and delete the footage

I just cannot see how TT would survive after this. Most people who want to save a few dollars will realise that their lives are worth more than that. It is sad to see because I believe there is a market for TT but if not executed well they do need to be grounded. And this is from a person who had great (cheap fares, on time) and not so great (flight cancelled) experience from them before.

Re: Ooh Tiger, you did it again and are grounded - fly below LSALT (lowest safe altit

There is something very interesting on Tigers website at the moment. On their disruption page, it is linking up to Virgin Australia.

Even an article from Plane Talking:
Tiger Airways turns to Virgin Australia to carry its shame | Plane Talking

Tiger Airways has made Virgin Australia its preferred alternative carrier for its tens of thousands of displaced passengers.
Virgin Australia is the only competitor that Tiger is linking to on its booking page for flights between today and next Saturday, which is the minimum period during which the CASA suspension of its operating licence applies.

Re: Ooh Tiger, you did it again and are grounded - fly below LSALT (lowest safe altit

If TT are allowed to fly again in Aus, (to coin a phrase from another thread) 'Bogans' will still buy tickets from them because they are cheap. The coverage shown on the Airways shows with passengers not being allowed on flights becuase they weren't there to check-in 2 hours before their flight departure hasn't stopped members of the public buying tickets, so why would this? I am sure that passengers are thinking why couldn't CASA do this after the school holidays, and it is this that will see TT 'survive'.

Bogans comments on tabloid websites have already been saying this!
Even people on twitter have said things along the lines of; 'things are always issues with tiger, yet i just booked with them, when will i learn'.

I guess that demonstrates the lack of depth of management, systems and responses to scenarios that Got Tiger into this systemic mess in the first place.

Someone might want to ask Jetstar if they need any more A320s. I know where they can get them straight away, with a huge discount. ;)

Not sure about that. Maybe at the end TT will be sold to DJ under some Singaporean deals ......

I reckon if TT does go down, all their aircraft will end up having 9V at the start of their rego, even if Jetstar did purchase them!

Re: Ooh Tiger, you did it again and are grounded - fly below LSALT (lowest safe altit

I question whether or not TT will fly for much longer - it is running a largely unprofitable airline, and the cost of this grounding, lost fares, compliance costs and PR damage can't be cheap. With Singapore Airlines opening its own LCC carrier later this year, and simultaneously owning about a third of Tiger, you have to wonder what the future holds for them.

Sad really, but some people are suggesting that TT might become a low cost offshoot of a new premium DJ...

I have to wonder whether DJ would actually want the damaged goods..?

With DJ staring down the barrel at a $150M loss in FY11 I seriously doubt that they have the money, besides the folks at VA are too busy
with the rebranding to bother with TT I would expect.

Re: Ooh Tiger, you did it again and are grounded - fly below LSALT (lowest safe altit

I highly doubt DJ would bother buying TT at the moment. It would be highly inefficent to have 10 A320's operating along side their 90 odd 737s.

On top of this, DJ probably don't want to be associated with an airline with such bad PR, nor do they have the funds for it right now.

Do TT own or lease the planes?
