Oneworld RTW award?

Are oneworld subsidiaries OK? Like BA Cityflyer, Iberia Express, Dragonair?

What about oneworld marketed airlines operated by non-oneworld airlines? Like IB flight number operated by Vueling or AA flight number operated by Skywest?

I have all 5 in my mock itinerary so just trying to work out which one(s) are preventing it from working.

Guys has anybody booked one of these OW RTWs effectively as multiple trips ?

As long as you stay within the rules (max 16 segments, 35k miles, two carriers other than QF, same city not more than once for >24hr etc) I cannot see why you couldn't ?

What I'm thinking is something like...

mel-lhr-cdg-kul-syd (go home and back to work, kick back for like 6 months) and then -lax-mel

The above exact itinerary is 36k+ but its just an example....

Would they allow me to do something like this ?

I'm effectively getting two trips instead of the one. Would suit me better as I can't take really long breaks from work.

Have you counted sydney back to lax in you miles? 'Ground' sectors count. I have not tried to back track like this

Yes I have.
I realise I am still over 35k miles but my question was more to do as to whether this type of itinerary would be allowed conceptually.

Thanks.

Works for me Nizar. As long as I can book the final flight. So still has to be less than 12 months all up.

Cheers. Have you actually flown something like this before ?
Do they give you problems at the call centre or is it all good ?

I heard with these RTW fares its best to book it over the phone and pay the 2500pt fee as its much harder to book online ?

You would need to get to AKL (or somewhere) to start this trip and do it effectively, as you can only return to the country of origin once, but that would throw you way over the miles. You could probably get to DXB and back but not all the way to Europe.

I've done KUL-NRT-JFK*-SIN*-ADL-MEL*-SYD-CGK*-SYD*-SIN-KUL (* is where I did stopover). With a few positioning flights thrown in this gave me 1 return trip to US and 2 return trips to Australia (from SIN), and I didn't take the last sector!

No sorry all my RTW flights have been oneworld explorers so far. But I can get a 6-month break in Australia to work online with the 140k qantas oneworld award provided the final flight is bookable and the other rules are followed.

I still can't book the one I am after (including BA Cityflyer, Dragonair and an AA flight operated by Skywest). I suspect all 3 are not considered "oneworld airlines" but I'll wait until I get a faster connection at home to be sure. Anyone else know?

Ok no probs. Are you sure the restriction is on country and not city ?
Where is this in the rules ?

So there's no way I can have the two trips six months apart ?
Any ideas ?

Thanks

My mock itinerary works. AKL-HKG*-SYD* (6 months)-LAX*-MIA-SCL*-SYD-MEL*-SYD-AKL. 140K points Y oneworld award.

2 stopovers in Australia for however long you like is fine. Downside is you have to start in AKL or somewhere else.

I have a oneworld RTW fare booked for later this year that includes a Dragonair flight from Beijing to Hong Kong if that helps, although that booking includes 3 non-Qantas airlines so I'm not sure how it would work if you were relying on it to make the minimum 2 for the award

Thanks. Presumably it is classified as a oneworld airline for the purposes of the Qantas oneworld award too. Mine is still not working though. To get to Malaga requires a BA Cityflyer flight, which I suspect might not be allowed. To get to Chongqing requires Dragonair, which might be OK. To get to Phoenix is possible on AA marketed and operated flights but much easier with an AA marketed Skywest operated flight, which I am pretty sure is not allowed.

So I take it that its against the rules to have a stop in the originator country ?

If that is the case I could even have more than 1 stop in Aus as long as I start in AKL ?

For example...

akl-scl-lax-mel (kick back for 3 months)-dxb-syd (kick back for 3 months)-sin-bne-akl

Way above the 35k but say it wasn't would i be able to go through Aus so many times ?

Maybe I am confused, I am sure that was in there somewhere, but I can't find it. If that's the case, one could do MEL-KUL-IST-KUL-SYD-LAX-MEL

Maybe its been recently changed ?
The only reason I questioned it is because I've seen an example on either the *A or OW site that showed an example itinerary that went something like ......JFK-GIG-LAX......
