On my last BA flight with checked luggage, on line they advised my allowance was 96KG... I did think that ridiculous at the time but now with babygr travelling it could be...interesting...

Thanks all - I will assume the BA allowance of 69Kg to apply :)

The published BA allowance is 3 x 23Kg per passenger in business class

The reality is that BA currently allows business and 1st class passengers 3 x 32Kg

If you need more, then additional piece costs arounf GBP70 iirc

Thanks Serfty as you response makes sense...Now just have to get back to Cusco after hiking to Machu Picchu... hoping that by next week the general strike will finish and allow the trains to operate back to Cusco and allow us to continue as planned on LAN to Miami:)

Hello
I'm dealing with a problem of max baggage allowance for oneworld round the world ticket. All information I have found are unclear, because here You say that there are 2 pcs accepted, and BA says that baggage limitations are due to carrier. I'll be very glad if someone can help me, my route is: WAW-LHR-JFK-MIA-SJU-MIA-LAX-AKL-CHC-SYD-MEL-SYD-NRT-WAW. Ticket is in Economy class, ticket type: Circle Trip Explorer - 4 continent, cariers are: BA, AA, QF, AY. So my wuestion is: how many pcs of baggage are allowed on this route one or two?

BA's economy allowance is now 1 Piece on most routes, so on that BA sectors you may be limited to 1

Thanks for You help. So If I'd like to have 2 pcs I have to check what rules apply on routes with AA and QF. Do You know is there an option to have another piece of baggage and how much it costs?

That is not a "Circle Trip" explorer, it is a oneworld Explorer (as per the thread title).

Qantas will allow two free pieces at check-in due to the "-LAX-AKL-" part of your itinerary.

AA will allow two pieces at no additional "piece" charge due to the itinerary including "travel to, from, or through an international destination that does not include Europe or India".

I thought any fare involving US travel (ie allowed two pieces) would allow two pieces on all sectors.

Certainly that was the case for us travelling BNE-LAX-JFK-LHR-STR,MUC-LHR-AUH,DXB-HKG-SIN-BNE and we had no questions about luggage at any time (BA, CX or QF).

Things have changed; flights to US do not necessarily allow 2 pieces anymore

Certainly "the Piece System" applies to xONEx bookings. This used generally to mean two pieces - this was indicated on my Paper LONE4 tickets from last year with "2PC" specified on every voucher.

However, since the July posts on this thread, BA have changed their travel policy, making it far more restrictive than before.

Until some can post anecdotes as to what BA is now applying, one needs to go by the minimum as published. On their web site: British Airways - Checked baggage

A topic of relevance to me as we are on teh YONE next week
We will only have 1 piece each with 5 of us but i'm wondering about the AA parts where economy bags were 20 bucks
Good to know that its an allowance related to the ticket and i should be ok

Finally the bar in terminal 2 QP is open!
