Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

Just wanted to check because I haven't done exactly this before, but is a 24 hour and 0 minute connection considered a transfer?
You could argue, the second the clock strikes 24 hours and 0 minutes, it is no longer "within" 24 hours.

Has anyone ever done a 24 hour and 0 minute transfer before (and more importantly count as a transfer, not a stop)?
23:59 transit
24:00+ stopover

Hi,
First time posting a question. I really enjoy reading all the comments and suggestions. This is a fantastic resource. Planning my first OneWorld Award flight for next year. I want to include HND - LHR but I see that route now flies east over Canada rather than west over Russia. Anyone know how that will affect the mileage calculation for that sector? I ask because if I add ANC to my route in Great Circle Mapper as a test, it adds 2000 miles to the total.
Thanks in advance for any replies.

Mileage will still be calculated on point to point.

Hi all you good people, following all your amazing help, I have had a grand trip last year and ready to plan my next award trip in May next year.

This time though, it will be in economy and my husband and I are taking along 2 of our adult kids.

I’ve been encountering the same problem every time :-

Once I’ve selected all flights and I’m taken to the payment page , I receive the following message and am asked to start over -
‘We are unable to confirm your selected flights. Select ‘Start over’ and choose alternative flights.(15079-23951-421)’

Is anyone able to shed some light on this?

Why am I allowed to proceed to payment page at all?
Thank you

Maybe you could list your flights?
Could be a charges calculation problem? You may need to ring. You could try each sector singly as a test to see if one is failing, just don't go to completion.

Thank you, I had to call them and they went through the basic itinerary with me :-
Perth to Sydney
Sydney to LAX
LAX to Tokyo
Tokyo to Sydney
Sydney to Perth

All flights were available on my end , I thought I would add in other legs later on.

I completed all passenger details and then went to payment page and had issues there. In any case they found that even though the return leg Tokyo to Australia was showing up on my side , there was some issue there.

I was asked to book the legs up to that point , which I did and gave them the booking reference, they said they have made the note that I need to add on the rest of the flights. I’m not happy about this and will call them again tomorrow.
For what it’s worth, they assured me that I would not be charged extra points.

So here’s hoping.

Which call centre?

Is SYD a stopover both ways (will you be there more than 24 hours)? You cant stop over in the same city twice although you can transit it.

Could also be the QF Int to Dom issue?
If using multi city, yes! But it should be one sector or the other. If the Tokyo to Australia can be booked then the domestic connector will not show. If the domestic sector is booked first then the international will not show.

Hi guys, posting a question I'm pretty sure I already know the answer to but just want to be clear. I am in the process of booking my OWA journey in economy over the Christmas holiday. Obviously, due to this, availability is very limited. Just want to clarify, does a flight have to be available as a Qantas Classic Rewards Seat or if I am able to see a reward seat with, as an example, British Airways, on their website or on Expert Flyer, would I be able to call Qantas and use this flight as a part of my OWA journey?

Grateful for this group. Thanks in advance!

CX, JL and MH fly to TPE and are part of oneworld. Could give them a go.

I'm a month out and still haven't been charged for a (ticketed) RTW. I've tried calling up and the agent insisted the card has been charged and told me there's nothing outstanding. Any other options or keep waiting? As nice as it would be to get a free flight I'd much rather be secure in the knowledge it won't get cancelled.
Did you have any issues with the flights or did they eventually charge you?

Hi everyone,
I am booking a RTW Business trip with Qantas points (318k)

I have gone through the rules, but im wanting to clarify a few points.

Currently my plans are

PLAN A
Stop 1
: BKK-> HND -> HIJ
(Land sector HIJ->HND)
Stop 2: HND->MEL
Stop 3: MEL->HND
Stop 4: HND-> HEL
Stop 5: HEL-> DEL
Returning flight: DEL -> MEL -> HBA (return to different city)

Would this work? I am transiting through HND in the first stop, but I will return to HND for a proper stop later on.

Im guessing PLAN A should work, but would it work if I went to Tokyo as a stop twice but through the 2 different airports?

PLAN B
Stop 1
: BKK-> HND
Stop 2: HND->MEL
Stop 3: MEL->NRT
Stop 4: NRT-> HEL
Stop 5: HEL-> DEL
Returning flight: DEL -> MEL -> HBA (return to different city)

Would this work, or is it that I cant go through the same city twice as a stopover?

Word of warning: Lahore.

I had a LHE-CMB flight on UL in business class as part of a OWA. On trying to check in, the ground services manager asked me for one lakh rupees (more than $500) for issuing the boarding pass. He mumbled something about departure tax. I objected and asked to see documentation to show I had to pay this - was told there was none - but told it had to be paid. I asked to pay by credit card, but was told their machine was broken - cash only. I asked whether I would get a receipt and was told the receipt would be in the system. In the event I did not have enough cash, but would probably not have paid anyway. I was told that in that case, I would be downgraded to economy and if I had any objections then I would not be allowed to fly. I was left with little option but to accept an economy boarding pass along with (bizarrely) an invitation to the business class lounge. On the plane, I discovered that the economy seat number I had been given had been issued to another passenger already. I was told to go to a seat that appeared empty on the manifest. I did ask the cabin crew whether I could sit in the seat I had paid for in business class but the crew had been told by the ground services manager that under no circumstances was I to sit in business class as I had voluntarily downgraded.
