What's the latest with Alaskan flights booked as part of a QF award? I just had J seats released MEL-LAX-MEL and looking to tack some flights on to Las Vegas to visit a relative. I figured if I did one flight on AS and one on AA I could covert this to a oneworld award adding legs later. The AA was fine but AS wanted to charge me an extra 10k points.

AA is on an award table with QF. AS is on a partner award table, so the extra 10k comes into play for a leg 0-600miles.
With AA it tacks on to the QF flight and stays within the mileage cap already paid for the SYD-LAX points

If the new ticket number isn’t showing on your Qantas Itinerary email, and isn’t showing on CheckMyTrip, then have a look at Manage My Booking on the Qatar website to see if the new flights AND the new ticket numbers are visible there.

It is always brave to make changes to a booking with QR. If it's not recticketed within 24 hours QR will delete their flights, this is an automatic process. Did the operator recalculate your taxes and advise you of any difference and get your credit card number?
To check if reticketed you can resend the itinerary email from MMB if is shows new flights and E-Ticket number then it's been reticketed. Also check CMT click on one of the flights if the E-Ticket is blank it hasn't been reticketed, if it shows old E-ticket no then they have done something wrong and it won't reticket. If it hasn't been reticketed you'll need to call again, maybe a number of times.
When it retickets you should get the email with PDF itinerary.

You can also check on the Finnair website, and request an Itinerary email. That email should also include the”081” ticket numbers.

Check My Trip is a real time window on the Amadeus booking system. If you have been ticketed, it will show straight away. The QF website, for reasons I don't understand, is often not up to date and may lull you into a false sense of security by showing ticket numbers that have been cancelled. The same with emails and itineraries that QF may send from time to time.

Thanks for that - well update I got through to Fiji and great consultant who saw it hadn't been ticketed - went on hold to 'the team' siad it would take too long and she would call me back. She did an hour later and hey presto got the email with proper e-ticket so thanks for advice and this forum for alerting me that my confidence in my booking was remiss I had no idea bout this reticketing business so thank you

Another question relating to another cancelled flight on my OWA. I originally had a leg booked of ADL>PER>KUL>HKT>DOH>LHR (I know lol). All flights just transit and less than 24hours between each, so not stops.

The KUL>HKT flight has been cancelled by MH, there is no oneworld option to pick up another flight on that date. I am going to have to buy a revenue fare on another airline and make my own way. That would be a surface segment, but between landing in KUL and departing HKT will still be less than 24hrs. So will that count as a stop, as not flying out of the same airport? Or just a stopover still as between landing and departure is less than 24hours?

Also, my itinery starts in ADL and finishes in MEL. Landing back in MEL is that considered a "stop"?

Can anyone assist with this one please. Thanks

I would be asking myself what was important. Is it getting to London? Is it a particular sector or transit that you were hoping for? Then trying to find a OWA solution that preserves what you most want. Then if you have some alternatives - even if they might require release of a revenue seat - I would be asking QF to see what they can do. You should not have to suffer for the cancellation of a short sector.

Once you have accepted changes you lose all leverage for getting an alternative routing as an Involuntary Schedule Change. I cannot believe coughet was the only possible intermediate point between KUL and DOH.

I have heard that the A380 is better than Q Suites - better seat and the in-flight bar are the selling points. My OWA over the next three months is due to allow me to sample both.

My view is that you are setting yourself up for disaster.

Now that you will be on separate tickets with tight connections, one delayed flight, which is highly likely with so many flights, and the whole itinerary is wrecked. And no airline will be obliged to help you.

I get what you are saying. There is a five hour layover in Perth. In KUL on that day there are multiple flights to HKT on 3 different airlines. We have 14 hours between touching down in KUL and departing HKT so have lots of options of getting between the two if anything should go wrong there.
Once in HKT it is all Qatar.

From my perspective the main danger is if the ADL>PER flight gets cancelled. Then Qantas would be obliged to get us to KUL?

Would Qantas entertain the notion of them paying for a revenue fare on Qatar from KUL to DOH if I pushed it? Or even just ADL>DOH? Do they do that with partner airlines? No award fares left on any of these flights or anything around them.

Some strange things have happened in the past, so I am reluctant to say never...

But the moment you accept the cancellation with no replacement, it ceases to be QF's problem. You have two routes - ADL-KUL and HKT-DOH. QF has no need to get you from ADL-DOH. If you fail to present at HKT on time for the start of that journey, that is your problem, not theirs.

But, as long as you have not accepted the cancellation, QF still needs to get you to LHR, probably via DOH. They may well have options either by getting a partner airline to release a revenue seat or by finding an alternative route (e.g. KUL-CMB-DOH.

I know. The flights that have gone are the MH, QR and AT ones - so presumably there was a need for reticketing and it was not reticketed within 24 hours. The agent on the phone right now (Api in Fiji) can see the flights that should have been there and he is trying to rebuild the itinerary.

If you read through this thread and some other Qantas complaint threads (there are a few in the Qantas forum), you'll see that some people have had luck getting Qantas to convert a revenue ticket to an award ticket on their own flights. That's probably as best you can hope for. Note it may take a lot of patience finding a phone agent able and willing to do it for you. That's what I'd be doing in your shoes.

Also keep checking availability on QR. They just opened up more award space on one of my flights I'm taking in January.
