If it fits into the mileage, I would choose somewhere like SFO or SAN as being much interesting places to spend a day. YMMV.MelUser said:Would pick AKL if using the fare as a cheaper AUS-US-AUS business class option and no other stops on the way to US via Asia were min 24 hrs.
How do you define service? How long is a piece of string?MelUser said:And while I'm on the topic a question - what has a better J class service - MEL-NRT(QF) and NRT-DFW (AA) OR MEL-HKG-YVR (CX) and YVR-DFW (AA).
San Diego, of course.MelUser said:Also, what/where is SAN?

Note that AA operates a combination of 3-class and 2-class services between SFO and JFK. So if using a DCIRxx fare, on a 3-class flight you end up in business class and not first class as you would if it was a 2-class service.MelUser said:Thank you and apologies for the SAN question!
One further question - when flying from SFO to JFK in First Class [767 300] what will the seat and service be like?
Looking at 8:05am departure from SFO into JFK at 4:45pm. Will this be a flat bed seat?
thanks

- If using QF FF program, CX flights do not earn status bonus points. Nothing to do with service, but may be important. I expect you can use AA codeshare for HKG-YVR.
Ahh, I thought that may be the case, hence my non-committal wordingdajop said:Unless it has changed recently (or it is hidden from the OW timetable) AA don't codeshare HKG-YVR or HKG-YYZ, only to US destinations (SFO, LAX & JFK). This includes CX888/AA6124 to JFK that operates via YVR, does not list AA6124 when completing journey at YVR.
AA are in the process of rolling out the new business class product across their 767-300 and 777 fleet. The NRT-DFW will be 777. There is no guarantee what type of config it will be. Their old business class seats have very large pitch but do not recline flat. Their new business class seats recline flat but not horizontal.MelUser said:thank you/
One more and I promise the last question for today.
What is AA business class from NRT to DFW like in terms of service/flat bed seat etc.
thanks again
Correct. All depends on the flight number on the ticket.MelUser said:Just to clarify, is the status bonus multiplied to points earned on QF, AA and BA flights irrespective of whether they are codeshare or not?
NM said:Ahh, I thought that may be the case, hence my non-committal wording. I have used AA codeshare on HKG-LAX for the purpose of earning the QF status bonus.
