That looks very interesting :) I might start checking where JAL flies in A CHina

Cheers

Thanks. NZ expensive :( Australia not too bad (compared to simple round trip).

Anyway, the 17k mileage limit makes it nearly impossible to use including NZ (I'm assuming JL codeshare on NZ flights won't be allowed).

4 All flights must be on services marketed and operated by the airlines participating - so code-shares operated by other airlines are not included.

I thought that would be the case.

something like ADL-PER-MEL-NRT-HKG-AKL-SYD seems to be within mileage limit and about 600 SCs in business - not great but not too bad if you needed to fly to asia and NZ

I checked out the JAL site - they seem to have a nice route map. A lot of flights from NRT obviously - but many internal china. If I was going to use this for my Asia work (we have offices in Guangzho, Beinjing and Shanghai now (new acquisition) that I need to be involved in.

I now need to work if I can do a SYD-NRT-PEK-NRT-HKG-SYD-mel-syd flight on the 17K ticket - seems ok - only 14K miles :)

Looks like this might work - and two of those will push me into EXP!!! And that's before any more DONE4 :D

Only 1 international arrival and departure of each country. You have 2 for Japan.

Oops - good spot. I have just done a theoretical itinerary for a trip I might need to do on about 16 April (assumption being that I will need to go to Beijing). I looked at teh ITA link that I have an a J return to PEK on SQ is A$4,843. So that is the base line that I need to work to.

SYD-NRT 16/4 QF21 21:40 06:35+1
NRT-PEK 17/4 JL781 10:55-13:50
PEK-HKG 25/4 CX317 07:50-11:20
HKG-SYD 25/4 CX111 19:05-06:15

Not perfect - a reasonably long layover in HKG - which isnt too bad and would be cheaper than the comparable SQ fare.

Add on to that a return trip to MEL in J later in the year and its not too bad :)

One question - I couldnt see any D inventory on JL - do they use C instead?

Just bumping this as I am slightly closer to planning my first Asia trip of the year.

When they are actually part of OneWorld they will need to use D inventory for products like OneWorld Explorer. I have not seen any fare rules for this Circle Asia fare apart from the summaries that are listed on the linked web sites. However, these summaries are more about advertising than publishing fare rules. Need to see the booking class for each carrier and I expect it will be like other OneWorld products where economy books into L, business class into D and first class into A.

Thanks - I will keep checking. My flights might be 23 April - so I am not expectiung to be able to use this as I will need to have one of the flights be an evening flight out of HKG on a friday - not much availability there normally...

Well the rule as I read it is only one arrival and one departure for each region.

3 Only one international departure and one international arrival permitted in each of the three regions.
With NRT and PEK both in the same region, it would seem that detour would not be permitted.

I've done a conversion of the fares to AUD:
Code:
Fares (AUD) Economy Business First
              <=13K  <=17K   <=13K  <=17K   <=13K  <=17K

I believe that's simply a case of poor written english; it means one arrival and one departure from/to (not for) each region.

Or, to put it another way, substitute the word interregional for international, you then get Only one interregional departure and one interregional arrival permitted in each of the three regions.

If this was not the case, the 8 segment limit would be almost meaningless.

Methinks that routing would be fine as it <South West Pacific(SYD)> to <North East Asia(NRT/PEK)> to <South East Asia(HKG)> to <South West Pacific(SYD)>

That would not make sense. The fare is apparently available ex-NZ (and NZ is allowed to be included ex-other places). There are no OW direct services between NZ and southeast asia region. You have to go via Australia.

Hmm, interesting that AU works out cheaper for both versions of economy and first class, but not for business class.

I am planning a trip in May. THis new OW circle fare for asia looks very appealing.

Can someone please help me with a routing that will earn me 630 SC? Is that possible with Biz Class only? I doubt there are many flights in Asia with a First cabin.

If 630 is too much, what's the maximum SC one could earn on this fare?

Would I need a 13000 or 17000 mile ticket?

My wife and I would love to visit NRT and SIN. We are in PER but would prefer to depart from MEL as the domestic and international terminals are linked and there are A330-300's flying to Tokyo with the Skybed.

thanks,

Chucksta

something like MEL-NRT-HKG-PER-SYD-CNS-SYD-BNE-MEL in business (under 17k miles) would earn 140+80+120+80+80+80+40+60=680 SCs

Is it possible to have more destinations in Asia rather than Australia?

I would love to use CX more. Have heard some good reports about them.

or PER-SYD-MEL-NRT-HKG-SIN-MEL-ADL-PER for 80+40+140+80+80+120+40+80=660 SCs
