I'm planning a Oneworld award (RTW) trip and I'm wondering whether Oneworld codeshare flights are included. i.e. the ones that show up as red lines on the oneworld interactive network map. Help appreciated.

Hi Familyman1

Yes RTW does include most Oneworld. If you use Qantas home page you will find a RTW link to the Oneworld page to plan your trip.

The 1st RTW I only used 11 stops, but if you want to achieve as many SC use all 16 stops if paying (no SC if on points).

The Oneworld planner you put in a rough plan add a couple of non-direct flight to make up all 16 flights. The site has a save trip but I go to the end (booking), copy and save in word doc. until I work out all kinks.

Another tip if flying J or F maybe start from NZ the pricing is usually same $ but conversion + fee saved me $3k last year with the use of ASA for return ticket to NZ.

The OP wants an award, not a paid ticket. Awards have completely different rules, e.g. maximum 5 stops and a mileage limit for an OW award. In theory, you can route a Partner award, which will allow other non-OW airlines.

Code-shares are allowed, but you still need OW metal (for an OW award), I think.

See this thread: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....ogram/oneworld-award-140k-280k-420k-8228.html

The rules have hardly changed since the inception of that thread.

As for codeshares, they must be on oneworld metal: "14.5.1 A oneworld Award is a Classic Award Itinerary that includes travel on at least two oneworld Alliance Airlines other than Qantas and does not include any travel on any airline that is not a oneworld Alliance Airline."

Sorry Familyman1 for missing the word "award" (I'm bad:oops:) and Leumas is correct 5 stops for awrad flights.

I still feel the oneworld planning map a good way to start, it will bring most available flights between destinations.

Thanks everyone for the help.

Serfty: I found the following info on the Oneworld website so I assume flights on all these affiliates can be included.

"Oneworld Airline Affiliates
Giving you access to more destinations around the world
In addition to the 12 oneworld® member airlines, there are a number of oneworld affiliate airlines that help extend the reach of our network to even more global destinations.
These affiliates provide services in conjunction with individual oneworld member airlines, meaning you can enjoy even greater choice and flexibility when you fly with oneworld.
Below is a list of affiliate airlines that can be included on your oneworld itinerary. They offer the full range of oneworld services and benefits.
More information on oneworld affiliates can be found under each member airline section.

American Airlines: AmericanConnectionSM* and American Eagle®**
British Airways: BA Cityflyer, Comair of Southern Africa^ and Sun-Air of Scandinavia^
Cathay Pacific: Dragonair
Iberia: Air Nostrum
Japan Airlines: JAL Express, J-AIR and Japan Transocean Air
LAN: LAN Argentina, LAN Ecuador, LAN Peru and LAN Express
Qantas: QantasLink# and Jetconnect
S7 Airlines: Globus

Finnair, Malév, Mexicana and Royal Jordanian do not have any affiliates."

Yes, they can generally be included; it's flights like QF / AA code shares on AS metal that can't.

Please note that while codeshare flights may appear on the award booking engine but if you selected any non-Oneworld (eg South African Airways) then the Oneworld award will not validate.
