Rather than giving the AA RTW desk another call, I thought I'd get my answer here.

Was wondering if the following is ok:

MEL-AKL
oWLG-SYD
xSYD-PER
/BME-MEL

I know there are restrictions on transcons and BME-MEL/SYD but can someone tell me if I'm only allowed 1 of the flights listed in the restrictions (DRW-MEL/SYD,BME-MEL/SYD,PER-CNS/BNE/MEL/SYD) or is that rule meant to be interpreted as 'only one of each'? Meaning either I can do SYD-PER or BME-MEL but not both, or both are ok because there are only one of each of the restricted classes of flights?

xONEx Fare rules said:
WITHIN AUSTRALIA ONLY ONE NONSTOP/SINGLE PLANE SERVICE FLIGHT IS PERMITTED BETWEEN THE FOLLOWING POINTS - BNE/CNS/SYD/MEL - PER MEL/SYD - DRW MEL/SYD - BME
Or more specifically, since this is ManyWorlds - how will the AA people interpret the rule? ;)

SWP is not my continent of origin so I'm allowed more than 2 stopovers - making for a nice holiday around Australia/NZ.

Thanks. :)

Ok after hearing different interpretations I decided to call the RTW desk anyway. And the AAgent i spoke to interpreted the rule as 'only 1 of each.'

So as a result I'm now booked to do: MEL-AKL/WLG-xSYD-PER/BME-MEL. Now I only need to get my own flight between AKL and WLG which shouldn't be too expensive, and the PER-BME flight costs about $245 which is not too bad considering that I've always wanted to check out BME and it'd cost heaps more to get there from MEL return.

If that AAgent was mistaken, I hope it doesn't get picked up when I finally send the ticket to be issued...:-|

Don't be surprised when you get contacted and told that it is invalid; the pricing ppl are quite good at picking up errors missed by the phone agents

Hmm ok - well at least they'd give me a call rather than me suddenly finding myself on a plane to Woop Woop.

There is nothing worth seeing in BME unless you live there or have relatives living there. ;)

when I had an invalid award itinerary, I found out when I went to try and get it ticketed. They will have sent it off for pricing and they may pick it up and let you know when you phone to check the taxes; alternatively it may be picked up at ticket issuance time ... you would be v lucky if it actually goes through methinks

Oh well - thought I'd just check out a random town I've never been to.

Otherwise it's overnight to CBR on a 734...

Things I do for the Qpts...

Wow... got the call faster than I expected. The agent who originally created my PNR was idly looking at it and caught out the mistake. Got woken up at 8am when my mobile phone rang.

Back to PER-CBR now. I'd at least save taxpayers a one way MEL-CBR flight if I'm supposed to be working in CBR that week. ;)

Oh well - will have to do BME some other day.

You could always do: MEL-AKL, WLG-SYD, CBR-PER, BME-MEL.

(I presume you are starting outside of the SWP)

That's a thought. :)

Haven't had a chance to rework my itinerary yet but will do so after my exams or during my next procrastination spree.

Yep starting in NRT. ;)

edited to add : Just out of interest - how long should one spend in PER and BME ? Would 3 nights in PER be too much (got some mates there though)? BME - probably 1 night? Cause if I'm going to do WLG-PER via both SYD and CBR I'd have to spend a night in SYD as there's no way I'm waking up for a 0600 departure (which is the only way I can safely connect all the way to PER on the same day). Plus the thought of doing that whole journey all in 737s in one day.... That eats up a day in WA, leaving 2-3 nights in PER and 1-2 nights in BME.

If you're keen on checking out Broome, I would spend at least two full days there, though if travelling by yourself, two or three might be heaps. Cable Beach has some stuff and just soaking up the atmosphere. You have to make sure you watch the sunset into the ocean but turn left (I think) on the beach because the right is the nudist side (unless you like that ;) ). I note its a 12.35pm flight out so if you really want to have a short trip, arrive late, spend the next day exploring then fly lunch the next day.

PER is beautiful too with Freeo and Rottnest Island and the city itself. Being a student, you mightn't be into wine but a day trip to Marg River would be great. 3 days easily, particularly with mates! :p

Sounds good. :)

I'm actually very into wine! So Marg River sounds good.

Oh my - looks like I'd just have to fit it all in somehow. ;)

Excellent, so am I but by mates think I'm a bit weird I think, can't understand why I don't just drink beer.

If this is the case, then definitely check out Marg River, it is arguably some of Aust's best wines. Check out this 1 Day Margaret River, Eagles, Caves, Wine & Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse - Australian Pinnacle Tours, although its looks a bit cramped. Price $161 presuming a concession is a student. :D

If a bit pressed for time there are also plenty of wineries in the Swan Valley, only about 30-40 minutes from the Perth CBD. Not as nice a location as Margaret River, but soom reasonable wineries all the same.

Gave up trying to make it work - too much hassles.
Leaving BME for some other day.

Got more time in PER now to check out wineries and surrounding towns, 3 nights plus a full day till the 0005 departure to CBR. :)

Depending on when you will be in Perth, if you are into golf as well as wine, The Vines Resort is smack in the middle of the Swan Valley vineyards and only 10 to 15 mins from the airport.

Surrounding towns:rolleyes: You thinking of going to Mt Magnet, Southern Cross, and Coolgardie:p
