Just for fun, opening up to the forum.

Have one (Saturday) night upcoming soon in HK.

Fly in overnight arriving Sat AM, Meetings all day, then evening free. Have 10am flight out next day.

What should I do Sat evening?

I might be doing something similar so would be good to know.

maybe start here for an aperitif on the terrace overlooking the harbour in the early evening:

WOOLOOMOOLOO GROUP

i would be looking for a quick foot massage next, this place is good and just across the road from K11:

Top Comfort 水云莊

then hop on the star ferry for an evening cruise across at 8 during the light show and have a nose around LKF before it gets too heaving

If you haven't been to Hong Kong before, you could also go to The Peak in the evening, and also ride the trams from Central towards Wan Chai/Cuaseway Bay.

The Peak Tram runs until midnight.

What do you like doing? Do you want to do tourist-y things or do you just want to soak up the atmosphere/vibe of a Saturday night?

Have been to HK a few times before so no need to be super-touristy (done the peak, kowloon, star ferry, markets, harbour etc).

So I guess yeah, mooch about, have a bite of dinner, couple of drinks etc was more what I was thinking.

Thanks already to those who've replied.

Hutong for dinner, great views, great food. Get there early enough for the light show, I think there is also a bar with great view the level above.

Dinner = Harbour Town, Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Bao ... Drinks = Wan Chai ... followed by a foot massage.

Would be interesting to hear some recommendations for Wan Chai. Many of the bars are in the red light district there... and very seedy. Certainly not a place to feel comfortable :(

The Pawn has reopened though. Not sure what it's like now though. Seems mixed reviews for drinks.

Im there for 24 hours in a few weeks time. Have been there several times before so know the normal touristy stuff.

Anyone got any suggestions fot something a bit unusual?

Eat at Man Wah atop the Mandarin Oriental. Ask for a window table.

Well, if you were the OP - my answer would be different :D

The red light 'strip' is mainly just a single block of Lockhart Rd between Luard Rd and O'brien Rd where there are a number of Girl Bars - I find it less imposing than walking through Kings Cross in Sydney and actually studied for my MBA with an Australian Uni right around the corner.

There are plenty of legit bars and restaurants in the adjoining areas. Due to the high rents there is a quick turnover of restaurants so its worthwhile going and seeing what takes your fancy - I used to eat with my classmates on Jaffe Rd behind the same block where there were plenty of choices. Many bars in the area also have specials on drinks which are much better than the prices in LKF.

You could go to the R66 revolving Restaurant located on the 62nd floor of the Hopewell Centre it offers stunning views over harbour and city.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Good restaurant sounds like the plan.

From past experience it's hard to go too wrong.

For one night, is it better to stay on HKG side or Kowloon side?

I don't think the duration of stay is really relevant for that. Central is only one extra stop on the Airport express.

For me it comes down to what area you would like to stay. Sweeping generalization here but the majority of hotel locations in Kowloon will deliver a more authentic HKG Chinese environment whilst Central/Admiralty has an entirely different vibe.
The MTR makes transit around all major attractions very easy and quick regardless of the hotel location.
