RTW in Y x7 is special ?
It is for me.

We are all different. For me it all about what I do at the destinations. Not food. Not hotels. There are a lot of golf courses out there waiting to be played. I have passed well over 200 golf courses played and heading towards 500 golf courses played. Would it be possible to get to 1,000 golf courses played in a lifetime? There would not be too many people, if any, that have achieved that feat.

Personally, I do not see the attraction of throwing away my hard earned points by upgrading to sit in a premium cabin for a few hours. Round the world is the way to go.

Congrats JohnK!

Makes me consider my measly 125k stored away... ideally it'd be for a RTW but the earliest I can do that is another 3.5 years away! I guess I'll have to burn them on Y fares ferrying me home from CNS :(

Enjoy those points, you've earned them the hard way and you deserve to reap the benefits. Wonder how many golf courses you can fit into one RTW award!

I agree each to his own.
However I don't use my points for upgrades. I also never use my points for Y fares - what I was alluding to is why not do 3-4 RTWs in J instead !:cool:

What you want to do is obviously up to you - but if it was me I would be flying in J/F all the way as that's where maximum value/comfort is.

I am thinking 7 economy Oneworld awards.

The first one has been my dream for a long time. Australia-USA-UK-Thailand playing golf in the USA (more than likely Palm Springs or Myrtle Beach), playing golf in the UK (Scotland and Ireland) and then golf in Thailand before heading back home. I think 6-8 weeks should just about do it.

I may do that for the first one as a treat. That trip above was supposed to be for my 50th but too late for that now.

Or if I find someone special....

JohnK,

This is precisely what I'm saving my points for too. Well, not so much Thailand or the US, but 2 months of golfing in Scotland/Ireland for my 50th. I've got a few more years to go which I'll need to get my points anywhere near 1 mill.

I also agree that OW RTWs is a fine way to burn points, mainly because, like others, getting 4 x J awards is like hen's teeth and I'm more interested in the destination than a few hours of comfort. Not that that's a bad thing but I can always by Pol Roger or Tatt when I get there! Just saying....

Well done on getting to 1 mill.

Happy Dude
