Offering to take a stranger into lounge

I have in the past on the lounge meet up posts of the availability for me to guest a person into either the business lounge or last few years the first class lounge
Just curious if "non readily identified as males " ever get the offers taken up ?
Do the males happily take an offer from another male ?
Just curious as I have offered a few times and ...surprised to not have the first class taken up .
This fat old lady is happy to guest people in, people don't want to be
Though I have to say I have offered in the check in queues a few times and people have happily come along. However on line is a different story it appears . My best one was checking in at HND. This rather older lady had bought back in the 80's (?) A life time business class pass . She was rather chuffed to go the first class lounge.
However is there a concern from people who take up those offers ?

I've had quite a few people take up my offer of entry to lounge over the years. I make a point of telling them they are under no obligation to sit with me. Most come and thank me personally for the invitation.

All have been males or couples. Can't bring myself to invite a female as they make take the invitation in a different way.

Thinking of inviting some lucky JQ passenger into MEL First Lounge in 2 weeks as my Karma points in this simulation are well into the negative.

I think I agree with this and it's both dom and international - I used to post all my flights and have guested a handful but it didn't seem worth the effort, especially as I often change flights. Only did this on AFF - didn't go around offering at the airport.

Have guested both males and females and hopefully they enjoyed their time. I also made it clear they didn't have to stay with me out of politeness after we got through the door.

IIRC there are few threads to get access to lounges or to meet up if in the lounges are the same time be it QF, VA, SQ etc. I used to post in threads when the self edit wiki was available but stopped doing so after the platform changed. I don't think there is an issue with people not wanting to take up offers it is more around timing. If my memory serves me correctly for domestic flights as a WP or P1 you can bring in x2 guests and they do not have to be on the same flight, for international it is x1 guest on the same flight. I have met up with a few AFF members in the QF F lounge in MEL and SYD in the past however most of these meet ups were by chance and there was only on a couple of occasions we happened to be on the same flight. As for domestic have guested in a few (male and female) and as @jonhk mentioned I make it perfectly clear there is no obligation to sit or talk to me once inside the lounge.

I have guested strangers into the lounge. On one occasion a single female. but that was because we were both on a QF LST- MEL flight ewhich was very late and we both missed our JQ connections and their service desk couldn't give a fig. I heard her sad story so took her with me to the QF service desk back in the day they could be fantsastic, We both had our JQ tickets changed to the last QF service to BNE for the night at no extra charge. So I invited her in to the J lounge.

I've been tempted to on various occasions but have felt it would come across as the wrong sort of offer. (young, male, etc...)

I do vividly recall an obviously new Mum & Dad were struggling through SYD T2 security and just looked really frazzled. I wanted to offer to guest them in to the VA lounge, but I lost track of them as we went to different scanners. That's one time I really wish I could've followed through.

In Abu Dhabi the lounge dragon was strictly enforcing the guest limits and the small group in front of me were one short. I interrupted and offered to guest the last one in, which didn't impress the lounge dragon but was gratefully accepted by the group.

I've been the recipient of such acts of kindness too when a guy next to me in AA domestic F was good enough to guest me in at MIA when I was caught short.

The best is when you can guest your boss on work trips, even though he travels more than you but has no clue/cares less about status etc.

I have occasionally asked strangers as we go in if they can guest one of us if there is a group and one short.

I've also offered seat mates (complete strangers) access if we are waiting for a connecting flight.

On a couple of occasions there have been people unable to access and being very polite with their query to the lounge dragons so I've guested them in.

It is not an obligation for them to sit with me when we get in and in fact I strongly discourage it

Likewise if I needed guesting and was offered, I would gladly accept.

Usually happens after we have had an ongoing conversation while waiting to go through security.

My experience is consistent with other.

Happy to do so and have done. No obligation to make conversation after entry.

But since the AFF site changes I have become very inconsistent with posting when I’m in the lounge.

I suppose I should post in the suggestion thread, but I do wonder if there’s an easier way to post lounge offers when I’m flying.

I'm of the same point of view as others who have posted, no problems in taking people into the lounge, a couple of times through requests by AFF'ers for their friends when they've seen my movements on the monthly travel posts.

There's been a few times when I've got chatting to people next to me on a domestic flight that's connecting to an international flight, and invited them in. One slightly funny episode was when flying to the UK from Canberra, via Sydney. On the Dash 8 leg I was chatting to the person next to me, who was in a group of four public servants on their way to the UK, although she was very much the junior of the group and they didn't pay her much attention. When we got to Sydney the other three in her group charged off to the QF F lounge, and as we arrived after them, got to see them turned around at the desk as they were in J but not WP's. We walked past into the lounge; there were a couple of sour looks. I don't know what happened on the flight with them as I was down the back in Y, but at least I helped bring some karma into her day.

I'll tell strangers I have a couple of Qantas lounge passes about to expire and ask them if they want them, then guest them in. Some are happy , some politely decline. Usually invite couples though who seem to appreciate it, and less awkward than talking to a solo traveller.

Said the same thing to a young lady who initially refused an invitation to the Syd F lounge a few years ago, but then she found me five minutes later and had changed her mind. Chatted for a while turned out one of my school classmates was her music teacher.
