Is the number of reaction buttons fixed or capped by xenforo?

I’m wondering whether an off-topic reaction button would be useful. 📴

It would give a quick visual reference to readers of content they can probably skip, while for moderators it would give an indication when threads are beginning to stray.

I realise there’s a report button, but given every report needs to be viewed by mods, this might offer a way for readers to self moderate and get threads back on topic. This happens to some extent already but usually via a whole lot of posts saying things like “we’re starting to get very off topic here.” So I’m thinking it’s a compromise position of sorts.

I dunno. Does it really matter?

Half the fun is when topics evolve into other, interesting issues.

And sometimes a lot of interesting stuff comes from the off-topic discussion. And saves another thread to be created.

Some online forums let you 'Like' 👍 or 'Dislike' 👎 posts - would that do the job you think?
Maybe. I feel it would get used as a dislike button more than an off topic button.

My thinking was that an off topic button would help identify when a new thread should be created.

But we're all different and I accept that threads that wander and become something else entirely appeal to some people as you've indicated.
