Dear all,

I've seen this question asked before, but the tip of calling Qantas didn't work (tried 3 times with 3 different people).

I've done a booking on AA and of course the reference number is something like ABCDEF, and I thought Qantas would be able to give me the GDS reference. But all 3 consultants said that they couldn't possibly find out that equivalent reference number for me (what?).

Your advice please?

If the booking was made by AA on a QF flight, call AA and they will be able to tell you the AA and QF booking references. AA references only ever contain letters, while QF will be a mixture of letters and numbers. I did this last week, making a booking over the phone with AA (and award booking) on QF flights. The agent had no problems telling me the Qantas booking reference.

Hi serfty,

I have the AA reference, but was curious to find out the GDS ref. AA Australia said that there's so such GDS (Amadeus?) ref, apart from the (Sabre?) number given after the booking, as I had booked the ticket online (AA US site).

Both SABRE and Amadeus are GDS's.

Booking with AA guarantees a SABRE reference (because that's what they use) but you will generally only have an Amadeus reference if there are flights on the booking operated by a carrier that uses Amadeus like Qantas (or BA, LA, IB ...).

So if there are only AA operated flights in the booking, it is unlikely Qantas can see it.
