So this evening I realised I had some holidays and could duck over to Germany between (US) Memorial Day and the lounge crawl weekend in SIngapore.

Which means I have now booked a ticket to the Oberammergau Passion Play. I have wanted to go to it ever since I learnt about it sudying German at school.

Has anyone been? And what did you think?*

*Yes I know - I probably should have asked this before booking!

I’ve been in Oberammergau when the Passion Play was on, but unfortunately didn’t organise well enough in advance to attend. The atmosphere in the town was wonderful. Hopefully I’ll get to it one day. Look forward to hearing about your experience!

Have also been to Oberammergau but not Passion Play. We stayed at Garmisch-Partenkirchen (easy train ride from Munich) & travelled to Oberammergau by bus. This is a review of the apartment we stayed in Parahotel Garmisch

I've been wanting to go for years. Guess we'll aim for 2030 when Not So Little Miss has well and truly finished high school (well, I hope she has! She should be doing grade 12 in 2024).

After blowing the budget on a ticket (€180  ) I have booked a couple of nights in the local youth hostel.

Looks interesting. I'm seeing Der Ring des Nibelungen at the end of 2020 so this could be a good warm up.

What day do you have your ticket @JessicaTam? I might be in the UK before the lounge crawl so could see if this can fit in with my plans too, before heading back for the crawl.

Nein, leider bin ich noch nicht nach Oberammergau gefahren :(
For those playing at home: 'No, unfortunately I haven't been to Oberammergau yet".

Saturday 30th May. I will probably pass through LHR a couple of times on my way there or back - See you in the CCR! :)

We loved trudging through the snow to the Bäckerei Ulrich Komm (Schnitzergasse) for fresh bread and pastries in the morning, and had great meals at the restaurants at both the Alte Post and Wolf hotels (on Dorfstrasse).
