My longest "Flight" - Ever!!

Steps: 61301

Well that's what the Pedometer indicated as I arrived home.

I tried to access the oneworld lounge wifi but to no avail; nor would Skype work with that or the "LAX" wifi, so I sent an email to SWMBO using the dreaded ''phone Data'.

I had a couple of NV Tatts and some cheese before heading out to duty free.

Unlike last time the DF was put into a sealed bag and handed to me.

Arrived at gate and boarding was actually underway. I arrived at 80A to find it already occupied (The person had "confused" 80C on their BP with 80A).

Anyhoo, once that was sorted and I was settled it was 10:50pm.

About 11:20pm a PA from the Flight Deck indicated a "problem with the automatics" that they need additional paperwork completed to rectify and it would be at least half an hour.

I started to watch a movie - anyway, after a few more announcements we pushed back after midnight.

While waiting I was approached by n FA with a list who gave an abbreviated WP welcome along with a pair of NC headphones.

It was quite a lengthy taxi time wise and eventually commenced rollout at around 12:40am by wich time I had already been in the aircraft for two hours.

Shortly after the seatbelt light went out I was visited by the Economy Services direct FA who said g'day and did the "anything he could do, just ask" - so I asked for some pointy end bubbles. :D

The planned routing seemed unusual, rather northerly with a flyover of Hawaii (although this was later changed). At one stage there was considerable turbulence, but only for a few minutes - that was the only time I can remember the seat-belt signs coming on mid flight.

Meal was a choice between a casserole sounding thing and a 'sea bass' - I took the latter, although I wasn't super hungry.

Eventually, the movie finished -and I was halfway though another when I found myself nodding off. Looking at my watch it was 10:30 MEL time and we still had another 13 hours to go, so I decided to get some shuteye.

Earplugs in, pillow placed behind back at base of seat with another on the floor for feet, seat reclined, blanket on, seat-belt done up over blanket and eyemask fitted - next thing I know it's 6 hours later. :D

I dozed on and off for a couple more hours before deciding at 6:30am atMEL it was time to 'wake up'.

The rest of the flight was uneventful - hot breakfast etc.

Finally disembarked at 11:45am, some 18 hours after I had boarded VH-OQH!

Straight though Smart-gate and customs (with green stamp :p) and out to Skybus at T3.

I arrived at work around 12:40pm and attended to some issue that could not wait then tidied a few things up before using the office shower facility and putting on some fresh clothing I had stashed at my desk locker the week before.

Got home that evening and was well and truly asleep (laying out the Z's according to SWMBO) by 10pm.

Thank you for you time in reading this, I hope you enjoyed it. I'll add some stats for this TR soon.

Incredible trip serfty, that would take a bit of "flight stamina" for sure. I went BNE-LAX-JFK return late last year (also for some NFL) and that alone drained me of energy, so if I ever ventured to do something similar to what you've done, I would have to take some tips - the minimum sleep time seems to be a good one.
