Not receiving Silver Pack when you go to Gold too quickly

Hi guys, was just wondering whether anyone else has experienced this? I recently went on a status run and spent a week as Silver, before hitting Gold. I got my Gold pack sent in the mail last week, but haven't received the Silver pack. I called up and they said because I went to Gold from Silver so quickly the system skipped Silver and so didn't send out the Lounge Pass, Card and Q Bag Tags.

I'm wondering whether there is any way for them to send out the Silver pack? I was hoping to use the Lounge pass later this year as I'm travelling with more people than Gold can allow into the lounge...

Call them and ask them to still sent out the silver pack, and explain your reasons as to why. Technically you should still be entitled to it as you where PS for a week.

Just did call them...they said there is no way to send it because it's all automated! A bit frustrating really...

Call again and hope you don't get the same person... you're entitled to one complimentary lounge pass. Plus the tags make great coasters, so I'm told.

Try ringing back and hope you get someone different? Maybe speak to a supervisor?
 
I'd be asking for the lounge pass and tags - they will be able to do it offline if they choose to - they're just fobbing you off.
 
So I called back this afternoon...and same answer! I even asked to see if I could speak to anyone who would be able to..and they outright said no. I do think it's a bit odd seeing that I did reach that level and held it for a week. You should be eligible for those benefits...
Reckon an email might be in order? Coz I tried their Social Media team...who told me to call.
 
I guess it depends on how badly you want the pass and luggage tags.

I'd personally pursue it to a reasonable length - it's useful to have multiple tags so you can just leave them on multiple pieces of luggage (and not have to swap all the time).
 
Maybe Red Roo on here, no doubt part of the Social Media Team, can pull the appropriate strings for you.

I'm quite an advocate of that myself, especially given their uselessness as I'm based in SIN. In some ways, I would've preferred if they sent me the old style tags instead of the current whiz-bang gadget kit which I can't make use of.
 
Did my status run mid 2011, silver arrived 1st then about 2 weeks later gold.
 
FWIW Dr Gumnut traveled in August SYD - LAX and by the time he arrived he had achieved Silver he then continued LAX - ORD - YOW and returned at the end of the week YOW - ORD - DFW - SYD. By the time he landed back in SYD he was Gold. So the difference was only 9 days. the Silver pack arrived here before he returned and the Gold arrived about a week later. The Silver welcome letter is dated 20 August 2012 and the Gold 23 August 2012.
I hope you get your Silver pack.

SC run DONE4 earlier in the year...was gold for 6 days before hitting WP...got both Gold and Platinum packs within a few days of each other on my return. Yes. Ask at least for the lounge passes if you are going to need them. Good luck
 
Thanks guys! Looks like Qantas is being very inconsistent then...I still have no Silver pack in the mail and every call is "it's an automated system that we can't control". I wonder how they resend packs which have been lost in the mail for instance.

I had six days between Silver and Gold as well.

Perhaps the pack is still simply lost in the mail, as it most likely would have been sent, so keep escalating and maybe you'll get someone who can confirm or deny that the Silver pack was sent, and if it wasn't, get them to at the least, send the QP invite, which you're entitled to.

You might also point out you want the tags as otherwise, say you lose your Gold ones, they cost $50 to buy, when you should be entitled to 4 right now, not 2.

I've been meaning to call up actually myself, had 4 stolen on a bag a few months ago, and I reckon I should at least get a replacement. I recall when they were first introduced there was a method online to get replacement tags, but that was quickly removed.

We will be in the same boat (possibly) in feb if we choose to do a status run from HNL.
My partner would have held silver for 2 weeks so hopefully his will be ok but I would go from bronze to gold within 2 days, I might be able to book it so there are a few extra days between qualifying but at most it would be 5 days between - we really need the lounge passes above anything else for the family trip in May - unless we end up with enough points to upgrade my parents which I would rather upgrade myself so its unlikely.
 
My silver pack took a very long time to arrive. And having dipped down into bronze previously, they sent me another two tags on hitting silver again. We have lots of coasters in our place. I gather you dont get another pack of gold tags when you hit gold having been silver? I can't remember, I haven't been gold since the Q tags were introduced, and hubby has never dipped below gold for as long as I can remember.

I'd say your partner will get both maybe not you. I went straight from Bronze to Gold a couple of years ago on the same trip and never got a Silver pack.
 
This really irks me - it takes someone a whopping 400 SCs to go from silver to gold yet QF decide to save some cash and resources and simply send out the gold pack if someone does this too quickly thus meaning the QFF member misses out on two Q tags, a QC invite and their silver member card.

Even if they politely offered to send you the silver pack if you called them meaning only the diehards would probably follow through.

Regardless, by earning 300 SCs you have reached silver and therefore should receive the pack, regardless of how long you were silver (there is certainly nothing in the T&Cs relating to this).

I know there are bigger problems in the world but....this is AFF!
