So, booked back in January flights though Oman Air from Sydney to Frankfurt via KL and Muscat, done similar before with out any issues. However.......

Some may remember that I posted a thread about being denied entry to a Qantas flight in Canberra, as my passport was "damaged" and they didn't want to risk me me refused entry into Jakarta where I had a connecting. Some of the replies in that thread weren't overly pleasant, a few said in no uncertain terms it was my fault even though I used that passport quite a few times in the previous 12 months.

One reply was, quote" I'm by no means a Qantas apologist, but this headline is just a beat-up.
It should read, "Clueless and careless passenger saved by Qantas from a wasted trip to Indonesia and turnaround there, because they tried to travel on an invalid passport"
." unquote.

Sigh, so I expect some flack this time as well, anyway I digress.

Booked through the Oman Air site, code share with MH140 from Sydney to KL, then pick up Oman. No problems previously even when using other online travel agents, in particular Aunt Betty.

I can't choose seats before hand for the MH flight, this was the same as previously, no problem, wait until the flight opens and check-in.

Wrong, SWMBO can check in all the way to Frankfurt, me, no way, an error keeps appearing stating that I can't. Check-in from Kl to Frankfurt is ok for us both. So I call MH, they say my ticket from Sydney to KL has been "voided" and it's not our problem, speak to Oman, if I turn up at the airport tomorrow, I will be refused boarding.

So I call Oman 5 times, their call centre doesn't connect. Find local contact for Oman, all is good from our end they say, speak to MH..... MH says nah, our systems don't talk to each other, again not our problem, call Oman, so I do, they again say everything is good on their side and they will email MH.

Various phone calls toing and froing, got a headache, but a nice red will fix that. MH says, get to Sydney as early as you can and it will be sorted.... Flight is chockers, both J and Economy, so what happens then?

As I alluded to earlier, dare say some on here will say it's all my fault. TBC, maybe.

I'm over this, with all the cough going on in the world, overseas travel may become a thing of the past, for us, except for NZ. :)

Good God. Just wow. Here's the post, so people can see it. (Apols cossie, but I think that's one of the most appalling posts I've seen here).

I haven't met you IRL but you know I think you are one of the nice guys on here and I have had so much support and knowledge from people on this forum I just ignore the w@nkers and don't engage with them. One of the ones that got up my nose has been suspended and I say good riddance to them and I will continue to enjoy more of the nice people (and photos of Max of course)

Have fun .

Guess I should say where we are going. One night in Frankfurt, fly to Zagreb, pick up a car and head towards Bulgaria, I was hoping to get to Kosovo, North Macedonia and Albania, but time and car rental restrictions may stop that.
Anyway, we end up in Weiz, Austria, a round of the Austrian rally championship, as well a round of the European Historic Rally Championship, old cars! Our friend is the secretary of the event and she looks after us, plus it’s always good to see her anyway.
