Why is it that airlines can't correctly stock the relevant number of immigration/landing cards onboard?

Surely they have an idea of the number of passengers who are flying to a particular destination. While they don't know the nationality involved of people until they check in (and in some countries locals don't require landing cards) - surely they should over-estimate.

A few Qantas specific examples:

- Express cards (for entry into Australia) not loaded onto flight.
- UK immigration cards not loaded onto a flight to LHR.
- Not enough HKG immigration cards loaded onto a flight to HKG. No "swine flu declaration" cards loaded.

I find that they always hand me the wrong ones when going into an asian country. They ALWAYS give me one in asian (must be asian looking ) and I can't read it  .. then I ask for an English one and usually get told they have run out :(

I try to keep one or two forms for each country I am likely to visit and carry them in my travel docs wallet.

I do the same, get some weird looks from the crew when I ask for 2 cards.

I also hang onto my express outgoing and incoming cards where possible.

So that's why they run out - some of you are hoarding some for your next trip!!

Good idea! Must pick up some spares on this trip...

did the usual stupid trick of rushing through the terminal to get into the customs line (no e card this time :( ) only to have to fill it out on the floor 1/2 way through the queue!

I always keep a few spare; restock at airport on arrival before heading through immigration.
