A few weeks ago we started our European holiday by flying Norwegian premium class from Singapore to London Gatwick. There is not much written about on AFF, so I'll provide some brief thoughts.
Firstly the fare.. was a no brainer for $575 non stop in premium economy on a day flight. The other choice was MH via KUL in economy for -$500 (including fee for sitting in exit rows) on A350.
The aircraft ... Norwegian fly a 787-9 between Singapore and Gatwick, and have two configurations, one with 43" seat pitch and 56 premium seats (8 rows of 7 across) and the other with 46" seat pitch and 35 (5 x 7). Our flight was scheduled to have the smaller cabin with 46" pitch, but late change on day before saw the 56 seat version turn up.
At the airport ... check in was quick and efficient. The Norwegian website does not list Singapore as a destination where lounge access is offered for Premium passengers. However, at check in we were handed lounge passes for the SATS Premier Lounge in T1 (opposite the QF Lounge). Lounge was pleasant, had breakfast and some drinks/snacks. Plenty of reviews of the lounge online can be found via google.
Boarding ... we left the lounge about 5 mins after boarding call was made, flight was slightly late due to late inbound. We reached gate just as boarding was starting, breezed through security in 2-3 mins and then onto the plane, bypassing the queue of economy passengers waiting to board.
The seat - reasonably comfortable and good legroom, probably didn't need that extra 3" of legroom. We had selected window and aisle seat, although could have moved as plenty of spare seats due to late aircraft change. The seat has good recline, and excellent legroom, although could be difficult to get out if the seat in front was fully reclined. Luckily seat in front only reclined about 2/3 so easily get out from window seat. Leg rests came up (was a trick to doing that) and were long enough for my 6' height, and adjustable head rests were good. Better than any of the premium economy offerings I've been on due to the superior seat pitch. Blankets provided but no cushions. We brought some small bean cushions, but just used that to rest arms on as head rests were comfortable enough. Didn't really need them.
