There are occasionally Jetstar tag flights between SYD and MEL that operate from the international terminal, though see seem to be few and far between.
Otherwise, Air India and United both used to fly between SYD and MEL, but both services have been discontinued and it was not possible to book just the SYD-MEL sector on these flights anyway as neither airline had/has fifth freedom rights.
Ok thanks. I'd done numerous SYD-CNS and wondered about SYD-MEL.
What airline was SYD-CNS on?
Have air india dropped the MEL tag?
Very recently, I believe. They now fly to both MEL and SYD directly from Delhi, 3/4x weekly respectively.
I thought Air India was DEL - MEL - SYD - DEL 4 times a week and DEL - SYD - MEL - DEL 3 times a week or maybe the other way round. Has that changed to just DEL - MEL - DEL and DEL - SYD - DEL?
Their international map still shows a MEL-SYD leg.
It changed about a week ago.

Qantas used to have a few: QF 81/82 (ADL-SYD; SYD-ADL), QF 19 (SYD-BNE) & QF 8 (BNE-SYD). But these flights no longer have the domestic sector.
Don't forget QF74/QF73 SYD-MEL and vice versa.Qantas used to have a few: QF 81/82 (ADL-SYD; SYD-ADL), QF 19 (SYD-BNE) & QF 8 (BNE-SYD). But these flights no longer have the domestic sector.
