Noisy Boeing 727s will be banned

Now after the ban comes into place, will restrictions on plane movements (eg curfews) be reviewed?

Unlikely! It is amazing how planes get quieter and quieter as new technology is implemented (and older noisy planes get banned or just phased out), yet surprisingly curfews either get tougher or just aren't reviewed.

Now if they can just get rid of those noisy police helicopters......

Fair enough banning 727's, but seriously how often do Antonov's land here? I certainly don't think it's a frequent occurance given there are not many of them in existance.

It's not like there's a bunch of 727's running around the country either (there's only a small number around) - still it strikes as a bit of a political move.

727 without hush kits have been banned in most parts of the world so it seems we are just following.

I'm assuming here that 727s with the hush kits are still OK.

What a joke, our government is announcing a ban on TWO aircraft that do frequent the airports on a regular basis, dont we have more important things to do folks. Never mind the fact that both are owned by rather large courier companies, one being part owned by the Government and the other partly by the German government.

Weird to see a pollie trying to ban noise when they make so much!

And what’s going to happen when a new mining piece of equipment has to be flown in on an Antonov? Oh, we’ll let that through, or no, sorry, our economy will just have to suffer?

Useless!
