Did you ask or were you offered?

I don;t thinks it's route related, AFAIK FA's are apparently supposed to offer on all Oz-BKK/SIN/HKG - but I am thinking as time goes on some crews are simply not doing so.

More on this: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....h-small-plates-plates-j-51990.html#post860892

Wasn't asked - it was offered to everyone. In fact, I was on my way to pick up a snack from the bar downstairs when the FA kindly advised that they'd be bringing round the refreshment soon anyway.

On a similar length J flight (QF23 SYD-BKK, full cabin) recently there was a refreshment of a terrine or schnitzel roll, both of which were perfectly adequate - surprised that SIN wouldn't be the same.

On our recent QF23 flight there was a menu for refreshments but none of that available-we got offered the same selection you did plus a cheese plate. They were all the left overs from the main meal.

Tired of reading these threads because QF refuses to listen to customers and the accountants are having their way with service.

Try CX instead, they don't have snacks/light refreshments, they have entire meals available on request in J.
On CX I tried to get a cup noodle, but was told they didn't have any and that they will prepare my dinner early with full selection and ready in 15 minutes.
Plus everyone's favourite garlic bread.

Qf should definitely be putting aside a hot second meal on flights Australia - Asia in business.

Just a thought... maybe they wouldn't run out if they didn't offer the plates to high status passengers in PE :)

... but then again, maybe the crew wouldn't feel the need to offer if they didn't drop the on-demand toasted baguettes from the PE menu.

Ahh, the old somebody wins, somebody loses series of trade-off Lol.

It certainly is going to cost them some of our business. It will strictly be the 4 QF segments a year for mrsdrron's requalification.
3 trips planned this year,first-leaving on JAL,returning on MH.
Second Leaving on a QF JASA then back on FJ.
Third-leaving on TG,back on SQ thanks to Avianca and Amex.

I flew Qantas PER to BNE recently (~ 5 hours) in J, and was underwealmed by the service. It was, admittedly, overnight, but I expected a meal after we took off and before they dimmed the cabin lights. The menu said a cheese tart, so i thought that would be a meal-sized tart maybe served with a salad etc. It ended up being an Hors d'oeuvre sized tart, about the size of a 10-cent piece, eaten in a single bite. I ordered a second drink, and had a real sense that I was being a bother to have done so as they wanted to be done with the meal service. There was a snack option (meat sandwich), but given the lacklustre response to my ordering a second drink I felt uncomfortable asking for it as they had dimmed all of the lights immediately after serving the tart (in retrospect I should have done so), but I was holding over to breakfast. As I was near the rear of the section, breakfast ended up being served to me _after_ they announced that they had commenced decent for landing, so I got a tiny (although delicious) muffin, a small bowl of fruit, and one cup of tea, before they packed it all away for landing. The seats were closer together than I remembered for J, and I could not put my tray down as the person in front of my was reclined back so far (although that was academic as there was no dinner to put on the table :-) ). I felt like I have only marginally more room than in Y.

The service was not _bad_, but it was not worth the upgrade points for either space or food. I looked into cancelling the upgrade for my return flight, but it would have cost points. Luckily the return flight's upgrade was cancelled at checkin.

At least it was better than a Qantas SIN to PER flight recently, which had no inflight entertainment (broken) and the toilets sloshing 2 inches deep in urine! At least my Qantas BNE to LAX and LAX to SYD flights were much better!

I"ve had a range of inconsistent experiences as well, some flights in J to SIN from both SYD and BNE they have come round offering chicken schnitzel sandiwches about 60-90 mins from landing, other times nothing. Flying SYD-JNB last year, we asked for chicken sandwiches and managed to snag the last 2... didn't seem to be a sure thing.

Would be good for Qantas to load up on things like chicken sandwiches so you are sure to get one on request every flight

Do you know which A330 you were on for that flight, or can you tell me the date you flew? I have a bit of a beef with Qantas over the IFE on A330's at the moment. Had the same problem (broken IFE) on a PER-SIN flight on 5th January.

After a day I provided feedback and got a cut and paste response arrived basically saying I should be reassured they are listening, they must be doing a lot of listening of the feedback number started at 1, mine was Ref No: 2014/009964.

Whilst they also said they looked forward to welcoming me back on board soon, in the case of J to Asia it won't be soon for me, there are too many better options for loyalty to trump common sense.

I'm on QF51 tomorrow but only Premium Economy. Usually have good experiences on this flight so will be interesting.

Will listen out for any grumblings coming from pointy end

Hi Jos888

The SIN to PER flight was an Airbus A330 on 27 Nov 2013 (QF78).

Cheers

I got one of these when I complained about the lack of IFE on A330's. Haven't seen the points yet.

It seems they might actually have been listening.
On QF23 in J last week there was a formal (as in listed on the menu) hot offering before arrival.
A choice of noodles, fried rice or potato croquettes in smallish serves.
I naturally went for the spuds which were OK, while my neighbour seemed to enjoy his rice.
It was served without too much fuss in take-away style cardboard with a linen napkin and a fork.
All in all it seemed just about right to me.
