Had to book a late notice HBA-MEL-HBA trip for tomorrow (Tuesday); booked yesterday. Got the first leg on QF but the return on JQ; my airline of last resort but no problem for a 75 min flight.

Just went to on-line check in. In MMB I clicked the 'Online Check in' button, but nothing happened. Hmmm.

Went to the bit that transfers you over to the JetStar website, to check in on that leg. OK, no problems, checked in and got the boarding pass.

Logged out, and back in to the QF site and tried again to check in. Same thing. Nothing doing (not an 'error' or anything, the button simply doesn't do anything). I checked under 'viewing tips' and confirmed my browser settings got the 5 green ticks from QF, so I don't think its a browser setting thing.

Called QF premium line. After a bit of an ask around, and consulting the fare rules, the lady says that the reason QF won't let me check-in online is because there is a JQ segment on the ticket (its all one PNR, she confirmed). I said that seemed a bit strange, as JQ did let me check-in, but QF won't. She asked around again and yes, that seems to be the case. She's come across this before.

She checked me in through her system and I just go to the gate and show my QFF card, so that's OK.

Is this a known 'bug' here - can't OLCI on QF flights if you have a JQ segment on the PNR?

Well that's weird. Just went onto Amadeus 'CheckMyTrip' to check if I was actually checked-in, and mindlessly followed the link to 'on-line check-in' . Took me to the same page when the OLCI button is (which didn't work before), which I clicked (again). This time it reacted, and I did OLCI in the normal way, and now have a BP.

Still interested if anyone has come across this issue before.

Its been that way for a long time, mixed company flights in the one booking when it comes to QF and JQ are not fun.

But they are useful for getting a JQ boarding pass on occasion for access to an F lounge? I guess it simply doesn't work for OLCI. Such a shame.

The only time I've had a mixed QF/JQ pnr was 2 years ago on an award flight on QF8/JQ35 BNE/SYD/MEL & I was able to OLCI via QF website so got a boarding pass for both flights.
