No More International Lounge Access on Jetstar Flights (except QF codeshare/JQ business max)

I've rarely used this benefit but this change hits different to me. I think it's because it is a flat out removal of a core benefit that's existed for decades. It is not one of those unpublished niche benefits that most people have never heard of, nor is it a tinkering around the edges. It is straight up no lounge access for you, full stop.

I am voting with my wallet even though I know JQ/QF won't miss me one bit.

At the end of the day, if someone can purchase a seat from A to B within Australia, and can travel without a passport, for their purposes they are on a domestic flight and have been sold a ticket as such... and at the very least could run a good argument along those lines.
The counter to this could run - it's an international flight operating to/from international terminals, just so happens to have a domestic leg.

It’ll be pretty clear cut at lounges that are exclusively international eg SYD, MEL, BNE. No QF code (or JQ J Bundle*), no entry. No different to a non OW partner flight.

*I don’t think this has been picked up yet, but I’m assuming a JQ J Bundle fare will only get you into a J Lounge and not the F lounge if WP.

I'm not complaining or anything as I wouldn't do it anyway. I just assess what is written at the time of reading and I don't see anything about "international flight numbers", just "international flights".

As noted, once more details come out, that may be completely clarified (and I expect it will). I'm only going off the info published to date - that I've seen.
Good luck with that argument. I suspect the answer is a flat no.
I have always thought that it was never the intention of QF to provide Flounge access to Plats on JQ Domestic flights Just a lucky break that has lasted for years.
Maybe those that will miss it can do a last hurrah of the Flounges before July?

I imagine that, for example, they'll just drop the Jetstar column in the access table

Completely agree on a practical sense. On a consumer legal perspective, they may be able to run a different position. In comparison, Qatar's flight Cbr to Mel, while it flies domestically, can't be purchased as a domestic flight. Then you have things like QFs flight to Norfolk Island which is most definitely a domestic flight, operating from international terminal. What's the answer? Is there a right one? Does it actually matter?

Again, I have very little doubt, that once things come out, it will be made clear that it isn't possible. I don't particularly care. But I think often QF puts info out that leave questions... a chunk of AFF probably would be pretty quiet if QF spent more time on perfecting their communication.

I will pass your good luck into the people that actually will run that argument. I have better things to do. But I do work in an environment where I see people take legal action against airlines for all sorts of reasons - including "the principle"- so I truly wouldn't put it past people unless things are cleared up.

Which again, I'm sure will happen.

Anyone taking legal action against QF for removal of Flounge access on JQi Domestic tag flights has way too much time and money on their hands.

Wha a bummer, I mainly fly JQ due to no QF availability, or not servicing the leg at all.

If I pre assign my lounge pass now for a JQ flight in October I wonder if I’ll get knocked back on the day?

I assume any pass I am given prior to July 1 is mine to use any time before it expires.
Presumably the change to only share passes with people on the same flight will be handled by a change to the portal, such that you select an upcoming booking and then enter a FF number for another party on that flight, rather than Qantas looking at who owned the pass in the first place.

Wrong thread

And the FF terms and conditions say benefits can be removed with three month’s notice if within the control of the airline.

I’m not sure there’s even any legal leg to stand on?

A simple “oh you’re on a domestic flight? Sorry this is the international lounge. The domestic lounge is in T3” would do!

Or perhaps they could have a corner for domestic pax, no booze until 12, and even then just basic brands. No dining but we’ll set up a toastie machine and some pumpkin soup.

I know this is an unpopular opinion, but as someone that pays for First travel when going on international holidays, I stopped using Qantas partly because of the zoo like nature of the lounges. The other reason was the slapdash nature of the service in the First cabin. If I am paying for First fares, I want a more premium experience on the ground. Qantas has to be the easiest First lounge to get into in the world.

Maybe they'll use "the vibe" as an arguement????

People take legal action for what others (me included) consider petty regularly. Emotions often win over thinking about things with more perspective - some people also don't have that ability.

I don't think that is an unreasonable view, or necessarily an unpopular opinion. I think many would support QF improving F service - on ground and in the air. If the changes result in better service in the F lounge - then on balance, it's probably a good thing.

Not necessarily unpopular @Keter
Sounds like a reasonable argument for a paying customer with an expectation of a ‘premium’ service.
