No More International Lounge Access on Jetstar Flights (except QF codeshare/JQ business max)

Am I missing something? Book a JQ flight from SYD to MEL, it happens to depart from Sydney International - I can access the First lounge because lounge access is available on a Jetstar Domestic flight 😂😉

I'm sure they will tighten up their words closer to the date.

Is this a QF thing of a JQ thing? Does JQ pay for lounge access for each of its eligible pax?

If so, maybe they’re trying to firm up the eir bottom line?

If JQ don’t pay, I guess something needed to be done about the lounges. They are overcrowded and could really benefit from an uplift to reflect the fares folk are paying.

If we don’t have 200+ JQ pax a day in the lounge, might we see sparkling upgraded to champagne for example?

I have flown JQi twice ex Syd to Sgn in J. It was great having access to Qf F lounge in Syd as a Plat member. Sadly this benefit will be.gone from 1 July.

PS Qf does not fly to Sgn hence the JQi flight.

You’ll still be able to access the FLounge on JQi in J if you purchase the Business Max fare..

I’d imagine if it’s an international flight number then international rules apply.
I’d bet they have almost certainly nipped this in the bud

Am I missing something, but isn't JQ part of QF. Robbing Peter to pay Paul?

Just an internal accounting transaction. What's more important is if JQ loses business because of the new rule. It would probably lose mine if I couldn't get lounge access on a 7+ hour flight out of SYD.

But it would have been very easy just to target the tag flights.

Personally not happy with the short notice.

I've got a JQi flight later in the year where at least part of my rationale to choose JQ over alternates was based on lounge access.
I am in the identical position with a Jetstar flight booked back in January but after the 1st July

Yes - it’s already been specifically ruled out for access due to the international flight number. I expect these were part of the business case for killing off access in the first place! A solid delay and a bunch of WPs in the F lounge and the margin from the entire flight is eroded

I highly doubt JQ would be funding entry to the lounge, except where it has been sold as part of a package

No, They will not have access to the international lounge. It will be deemed an international flight.

But if you booked the max fare that doesn’t mean you have first lounge access, you could only access the first lounge if on a QF flight number

Seriously annoyed at this. Booked two separate BNE - CEB JQ trips this year that will be impacted. Definitely counting this as a deval, QF will cop a revenue hit from me for this, I'll make sure of it

Bah, I'm a bit miffed by this change. I've only taken two JQi flights now that I think about it, and only got to use the F lounge once (SYD-KIX) in both those times.
The only other time I've done JQi was on BNE-NRT back as a lowly PS... that was a Business Max fare and that doesn't give access to the QF BNE lounge.

The timing makes me wonder if it's got something to do with refurbed JQ 787s with the business cabin going from 21 to 44 but I also wonder if it really would make a huge difference on lounge capacity concerns?

Wouldn't surprise me at this point if SC earn gets "enhanced" in the near future as well.

Unless this is spelled out explicitly I'm gonna assume that Business Max = J Lounge access only when on a JQ flight number, and only to specific lounges.

Interesting to see another significant change from QF. It makes me wonder if they are more to follow.

I made up my mind not to travel budget airlines a year or so ago. Never say never but I found there are better options. Understand the situation of those that don't though.

This change sucks and is a significant erosion of benefits for Platinum. The only thing that made flying JQi to SGN, ICN etc worthwhile. The QF codeshares on JQ are priced so high its laughable and almost insulting that its even mentioned, there is no QF metal on these routes and Classic Rewards book under the JQ code. With lounge access out of the equation are better non-QF group options now.

So platinum flying JQ on an international business max fare… first or business lounge? Haven’t really found a definite answer to that
