Could this be the first year in many that there is no Christmas Voucher offer?

Usually runs for the month of December, but I haven't seen anything as of yet (6th Dec).

I wouldn’t get too despondent just yet.
Maybe a January promotion is in the offing ?

Thought there might have been something in this morning's Red Email, but nope.

Make it a memorable Christmas with Qantas

Shopping for your favourite traveller? Land them the perfect gift with a Qantas Flight Voucher^ and get their Christmas wrapped up with a memorable travel experience.

I get the feeling they've moved on from vouchers as a money making exercise (and also it is possible forward loadings look good) and they are more pushing targeted offers, things through the Mall and their CC for bonus points. Just a feeling.

Not sure forward bookings are all that great looking at all the scheduled flights they are cancelling.

Promotion could be a little later this year.

Any later and it will be 2018....

I'd rather a double status promo than a voucher promo to get e.g. 5 points per $ spent, but then that's my personal preference. As I'm still on the way to LTS let alone LTG I value SC highly at the moment.

In the instance , i think it’s one and the same thing.

Late edit: I’m confusing this with something else. My mistake.

Well QF could yet do this promo again another year or at a different time of year. I think it's in QF's interests to not make it too predictable when/if promos will happen. They would much rather people book without needing a promo to induce them to book.

Suspect the cancellations are more to do with well publicised pilot shortages less to do with loads

Good profit results = don't need to incentivise vouchers (cash up front) with points.

I very nearly forgot about a $1000 voucher purchased in December 16. Caught it with 3 days left, purely by chance as I was looking for an old email from late that year. Made a booking which I will probably use so glad I didn’t waste $1k for whatever meagre points I would have received.

Makes me wonder how many people do forget or only use some of a voucher. Along with prepayment it’s surely a nice little earner.

I suspect I’d decline the Christmas offer, but kind of glad to not even have had the temptation. Will probably succumb next DSC promo I get, however.

Doesn’t buying / using a gift voucher save the booking cc fee? Why wouldn’t people buy them every time they were going to make a bkg?

Awareness, forgetfulness, booking complexities, or a preference to use a different payment form, or make a booking another channel.

If you meet all the above though, it's worthwhile taking advantage of.

Yep, inability to use vouchers for multi-city bookings online renders them of limited value for me. Otherwise agree, it is very sensible to use.
