Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

I'd love to be employed in your job 🤣 I work in retail liquor, but my job doesn't involve me tasting wines :p

Don't worry, a lot have no labels, so it's anyone's guess what they actually are :p

For example, I got given a bottle at Xmas that was supposed to be a "$150 bottle". But it only had a gold cap, and a cork from a larger well known winery.

So who knows if the $150 was the China inflated value, it could've been a $10 bottle of garbage if on the shelves here in Aus.

On the other hand, I got hold of the Jacobs Creek VSOP double barrel (Originally only made for overseas markets), and I really enjoyed it. You can still find it for $40-$60 online.

Sounds like you work for vinomofo

First time I've had a blend like this. Brilliant perfume on the nose, great legs in the glass, and a lot of fermented fruit on the palate.

Enjoyable

drinking these last week, My friends in the dinner said the grand cru white and red are good, but to the whit I think it doesn't store in good condition or I expected more than what it should be at that night. I drink too fast, too rush, and focus on chatting, this is what I do at every wine dinner, I can't pay full attention to the wine.

Great thing about ports. don't go off basically. Very smooth and a great drink for a winter's night.
I think I have a couple of older vintages. Will have to look.

I have some early ‘80s VPs in the cellar. It’s finding the right opportunity to open them is always the challenge.

Also plenty of old Tawnys that are probably much the same as the day they were bottled!

That's be beauty of a tawny though. You don't need to knock-off the bottle. You can just have one glass and put the rest away.

Precisely. They don't change with age, unlike a vintage fortified/port.

We stopped offering port at dinner parties. Too often we’d ask and there‘d be one or two “I’ll have a glass”, so we wouldn’t open the vintage port - then two bottles of tawny later…💁
