Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

wines were great, maybe the Chambolle and Vosne my favourites, but Fixin, Gevrey, NSG, Pommard all close behind, which just leaves the Volnay and SLB... thanks to @Jczer000 for the heads-up :)

Tonight at the Ironclad Hotel at Marble Bar for our 4WD trip windup dinner.

Conversation goes like this:

JohnM: “What do you have in the way of red wine?”

Bar lady: “Cabernet, Cab Merlot, Shiraz.”

JohnM: “Cab Merlot, please.”

Bar lady comes back with a glass of red wine: “$9.”

JohnM pulls out CC.

Bar lady: “Minimum $10 on CC - but I can give you cash difference.”

(Aside: penny just drops as to why they charge $10 for a can of beer. 🙄. Further aside: later informed by someone in the group that beer price is $7/can cash.

The bar lady didn’t tell me that the other night. 😡)

JohnM: “I’ll be having more than one; can I start a tab?”

Bar lady: “No.”

JohnM - exhibiting extreme cunning: “OK, give me two now, please.”

Winner. 😎😛

The wine was actually not bad, but God only knows where it was from.

Firstly, was it better than the Far-Cue wine?

Secondly, you should be ashamed of yourself for getting two glasses at once. You just missed out on some easy FF points. $10 on the card with one dollar back twice. Easy 2 FF for you for no cost that you missed out on. Hang your head in shame! :)

Fruitier than the Far-Cue. Quite definitely a cab merlot. I assume it was from a cask. If so, surprisingly good.

Sigh...international travel. Heck...I'd settle just for domestic travel! I should be in Adelaide now and should be having a Rockford lunch on Friday....but no :(

We stayed here for 4 days and ate wonderful Piedmontese food and drank Barolos!

Planned to revisit Le Langhe later this year. Ah, will we ever return!

I have to remain positive that I will get back to Europe and already planning that when I go it will be for six months
