Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Thats why i found the reviews of the warramuda very disappointing here because Victoria cabernets provided they always get a good airing are lovely.
I was buying and finally drank them all but the Hope Estate Victoria cabernet 2006 bought 27thmarch 2014 from grays at $44 a case, then others at $49,$54 and $59 were sensational and the acidity kept everything together. Even as a thirteen year old red, the fruit was intact and they were stunners. Every single bottle did not disappoint. Amazing really. I grabbed some 2008's too but they were not as good.Good but not amazing. One case only for the 2008's The hope estate 2006 shiraz/malbec 2007 at $44 a case was alright. There was plenty of hope at my place. always is. haha.
I think we have very similar buying habits. Those Hope Estates were very good (but only the ex Virgin Hills variety, not the NSW ones)

I debated buying Serrat's 2019 Pinot Noir, but went the 2019 Shiraz Viognier instead. Maybe the Pinot Noir is built for ageing, which may explain why you did not think it to be outstanding.

Funny to hear this, I’m yet to try a serrat a few years after vintage that has improved. I’ve tried a few vintages where 1-2 yrs post vintage they have been amazing but ~3-4 years post vintage, they’ve taken a turn for the worst. Not sure if they go into a dull phase like Riesling.

I’m still drinking ‘15 Serrat PN and SV. My last PN was a few weeks ago and was very reductive with more burnt rubber then I recall in previous bottles - seemed more full on than my last 12 months ago. While I very much enjoyed it, I recall thinking that if the reductive notes continued to get more prominent it may be a bit much for me

Has any one tried some nice Mudgee wines that they'd recommend? I'm heading up that way this week, keen to see whether there are any cellar doors that you'd suggest a visit to.

Lowe.. It has been a few years but I remember enjoying some nice wines and them bringing the tastings out to us while ate a cheese and salumi platter. Great way to spend an hour or so

Awesome view too

Opened a 2018 Bindi Dixon last night:

Night 1: Wine was sublime. Structured and precise yet approachable and relatively opulent in fruit.

Chucked a stopper in it and put the rest away in the bar fridge.

Night 2: Nose was muted, wine looked cloudy, fruit was stewy. Even the structure seemed to be not quite there.

It was as if it had oxidized overnight.

A bit perplexed on why it deteriorated so rapidly?

I think all 48 of the cabs were very good indeed. The bluer-labelled Glenhope 2008's allegedly from Macedon were good as well. Only 3 cases of those, all funny enough at $29 a case, back in July 2014.
