Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Causal lunch drinks, the 2008 Pinot shows best and everyone loves it, but the 2011 Chardonnay finished a bit salty at the end, otherwise it would of be top of the Tyrrell’s vat 47.

I just bought the olek from langtons ,2016 barbaresco doesn’t disappoint , 3 hours in the decanter and it is still tough but it doesn’t stop the elegant flavour nose of rose , herbs and Cherry’s , it’s pretty but not ready for another 10-15 years.

Nice line-up. How was the Viberti? Would you leave it sleep longer?

The Viberti definitely needs more time. I have two more bottles. Will try not touch the next one for at least 5 years. It also needed a long decant. 6+ hours would be ideal.

Cheers, will leave mine for the time being then.

So continuing my cellar clear out a 1971 cabernet shiraz blend from Mclaren Vale.by Mildara.Bottled for the opening of the Sydney Opera House by the Queen.

Now I was expecting this not to last.Certainly when first opened it wasn't pleasant but an hour or 2 exposed to the elements and it cerainly changed.little bouquet but a good colour and it was smooth, easy to drink. Not as good as the Tyrells but way better than expected.

This was a nice wine I tried made yesterday. 'The Barbarry' , a 2019 shiraz using the components of d'Arenburg's Dead Arm Shiraz.

But seriously, Rockfords 2015 Dry Country Grenache has been resurrected as a Stonewall Room -only wine. Already has a few years in the bottle and I reckon will be a favorite of Stone Wall Room visitors.

It was my 40th last week, so celebrated with the first ‘real’ wine I bought. Before that it was backpacker bargain bins
Still needed 1-2hrs to really open up, but when it did it was wonderful. using my phone so unsure how to flip this picture

2012 Dandelion Wonderland and 2014 Mentelle still fantastic favourites - stoked to stock up more of the latter during Dan's clearance :)

cornu.jpg

Found the 2012 Kooyong with the Mentelle (not listed on website), 2016 Cornu courtesy of @boomy and a delightfully elegant/subtle contrast to the New World ones - unfortunately my only 2017 Up The Hill, damn Dan's for going Down The Hill :(

xanadu.jpg

2016 Xanadu reminded me of 2014 Singlefile - now wondering if two more is enough?

Ithaca was my last at $15.88 - now looking forward to the $10 ones - thanks Dan's :)

did you purchase this overseas?all my gladstones cab from 08 onwards are all screwcaps.

IIRC think it was through Cellar One or cellar Door. Recollection might be off, but I think the general consensus on the threads was that it was considered a failed export (hence cork?).

A Vermentino from its home, at a great little outdoor/indoor Italian resto (Capo in Tsim Sha Shui) in Hong Kong tonight. Went perfectly with excellent pesto pasta.

These guys have nailed it for pizza and pasta and a great Italian wine list. Highly recommended.

The last night of 17 weeks on the road. Back to PERfection tomorrow on the last sector of this year’s DONE4. Stopover forced on me by CX cancelling my flight from CMB today and having to fly 24h earlier. An inspired cancellation :).
