So, you don't like my glasses, or you think I should drink out of the bottle/decanter?

The latter of course :)

I think you would be pleasantly surprised at how much better the wine experience would be with a bigger glass. There expressiveness of the aroma off the wine is greatly magnified. Doesn't need to be an expensive brand or anything. The other advantage is you can pour more in ;)

Apologies as well. I realise I sounded like a bit of a cough in my previous post. I did intend for it to come across a little more light hearted.

An American friend of mine has a turkey deep fryer. He is making us deep fried turkey as well as deep fried anything else we can think of. Matching wines will be champagne of course. This is what I'm taking along. Should be an interesting day tomorrow. I'll post some more should it not kill me.

I like the look of the wine but I'm not so sure I like the sound of deep fried turkey .

If everyone is taking three bottles, I think your Sunday is totally taken care of ;):p.

I think the photo was deceptive as the glasses are quite large, but they were a way back from the bottle. They are also nice and sturdy which is good when you're drinking on the couch (and have an overly curious cat). If we'd been at a table id have bought out the fancier glasses. Regardless the glasses did a fine job of showcasing the wine.

Daver you did not sound like a cough to those of us who constantly read and appreciate your posts - my response also was intended as light hearted sarcasm.

Interesting point is that first conversation that blackcat20 and I had on Wed night at Toppy's was me apologising to her for a post that I made months ago which was intended totally as a joke - unfortunately sometimes the correct underlying thrust of what we post here or what we read here can be misinterpreted.

All good. I'm definitely grateful for wine suggestions I receive in this thread, and while I understand a glass can make a wine, I already have more glasses than fit in my buffet. And a cat that likes to sneak into the cupboard when Im not looking  I'm not sure Riedel glasses would withstand Miss Curious....

Oh right...so the cat sneaks into the cupboard, drinks the wine and breaks the glasses. I'll believe you :) Must be the same cat that my dog blames for digging holes in the garden and eating the retic :) Those naughty cats sure do get around.

I was going to have this as a celebration of the Aussies win, however from 5 mins ago, it's now also a drink to celebrate the life of a client who I just found out died today.

She was the mother of a schoolfriend and unfortunately had an operation that wasn't successful and subsequently had been in ICU for the past 90 days on a ventilator. We only spoke about her on Friday, knowing things weren't good as her eldest son had flown in from France.

So, to Suzanne, God speed. We will miss your beauty, smile and laughter.

Hahaha, a drunken cat won't be as curious as it was before it found the wine :>

Last night's little numbers:

2pinots.JPG

Both small producers are in S Tasmania - Clemens Hill at Cambridge out near HBA; Home Hill to the SW of Hobart.

Opened the Clemens Hill first with dinner then when that was gone PartnerJohnM asks "What else have you got?" (Well, plenty, thinks me but that can wait for a little while ;).) I digress... Anyway, to maintain the 2009 Tas pinot theme, I dragged the Home Hill out of one of the cabinets.

The Clemens Hill was the better in our view (balance, refinement) and was probably at its peak. The Home Hill was a more robust style and would easily have a few more years ahead of it.

A big glass like at the HotP - at about 10 to 8 we were told the lounge is closing soon so I decided to fill our glasses. I think they held about half a bottle each
