Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

My tasting group had a curry night last night...There was actually also matching beers to each curry too, but this is about wine, not beer :)

What was the d'Arenberg Daver6? Their 2010 Footbolt Shiraz is drinking nicely at the moment.

I had a 2010 Langmeil The Blacksmith Cab Sav with some Italian during the week. It softened nicely with the food, but I suspect it will be at its best in 3-4 years.

Was the 2008 Laughing Magpie Shiraz Viognier. Was really closed and realistically needed at least a four hour decant, if not more. Heaps of life left in it.

What is the Taylors Pinot like?
I've had the Giesen quite a few times.

I'm never quite sure what I'm supposed to be tasting when drinking Pinot Noir, maybe my palate is too old having commenced drinking McLaren Vale and Clare Shiraz Reds and Riesling from Clare and Eden Valley since the late 60s (1960s that is).

Perhaps your taste buds have atrophied  - but understandably with what you've been drinking and the time period, IMHO.

But you'll have tasted more overall than me - I only commenced in the mid 80's...legally

Okay, I forgot about this little beauty in my wine fridge. Anybody have any knowledge when I should drink? Cork looks okay just the outer wrapping is peeling

Uncle gave it to me 6 years ago as birthday present out of his cellar, so provenance is good

The only search on Google gave me this:

This wine is not going to improve. It will be either superb or vinegar. Do not let it breath for long after decanting (to remove sediment) as any bouquet will disappear quickly

I would have a go at it as soon as possible.

Interesting looking wine. Maybe an email to the winery could shed some more light.

If the wine was given to me I doubt I would drink it. I am certainly at the opposite end of the spectrum to an expert but rather than chance the wine having reached its use by date, I would just keep it in memory of my Uncle. I don't mean that to sound as though your uncle has passed away, I think you know the context of my comment.

What a great gift to be given by the way.

Very enjoyable but I should have left it a bit longer to get to room temperature. Still have 1 bottle of 2003 left. Can anybody guess the meaning of the photo?
