Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Tried that myself once.... Black hands and stayed up all night. Should have gone for the caffeine free varietal.

You didn't have enough wine with it then ;)

More seriously, there isn't actually all that much coffee per steak based on the recipe I use. Would work out to be the equivalent of roughly one quarter of the coffee used for a single shot espresso.

What was the Vin Jaune like?

It was good, but honestly, probably the poorest vin jaune I've tried. Again, nothing wrong with it at all. Just didn't quite have any wow factor for me. It was over shadowed by the Domaine de Montbourgeau which was also made in the vin jaune style, just bottled early. This showed much more flor, sherry and nuttiness with better acidity.

The vin jaune was also priced accordingly at just over $70 at Dan's. You'd be looking at upwards of $120 normally for a vin jaune in AU. So given the price point, I'd say it was priced appropriately for the quality.

The very first vintage from the son of...

He only made two wines so far, Chardonnay and PN. Both scored 95 points from TWF, remarkable achievement for such a young winemaker on his first attempt.

I loved this PN which feels more French than Aussie with distinctive red fruits (cherry, raspberry) notes. Should probably be cellared for a few more years but I was keen to try this one early :)

In for a penny, in for a pound. No point of vin jaune if it’s not mind blowing.

Agree with your views on it and quite enjoyed it.

I took it along to a Duck and Pinot night and it was very well received by all.

If you join as a member the wine list is reasonably priced with some good wines and vintages.

Food is average, especially given the cost.

That's precisely why we went. Mate was a member. It's a pity that the food is both over priced and below average in general. Service was abysmal. Even with the great prices on wine, I won't be back.

Drove up to Curly Flat today. The '19 Chardonnay is stunning! Really linear and acid driven up front (only12.7 abv) then the oak and malo kicks in and it really opens up.

This is huuuge....and amazing! Seriously big wine. Purchased on real at the cellar door. Why did I only buy a single bottle?! Mountains of black and blue fruit. Old furniture, leather,l iquorice, dark chocolate. Tannins nicely integrated and balanced acid. Finishes long. 15.5% ABV but well balanced that it doesn't stick out.
