A nice drop..... Medium body, savoury, dusty tannins and medium to long finish.

That may have been the only one they ever made - the 2012 is all that's listed on their website. My intention is to get to MR for a bit of rummaging around once our regional travel restrictions are lifted.

Surprisingly good. Good fruit, still strong tannins.

Didn’t realise AFFers were interested in Penfolds wineS, I came across a bargain* on Wednesday, was going to post but work got in the way and it was gone (Price corrected) when I got back to it.

*subjective I guess
Sad!

Che? Why not Penfolds? Have a cellar full.

Not everyone on AFF exclusively drinks bottom of the barrel stuff from discount sellers. 🐱 o_O
No Rockford or Penfolds? ;)
Na. Only good wines tonight! 🦆
So as I was saying......

Same producer, same vintage. Had them over two days, chardy in the afternoon and pinot with dinner.

The Chardonnay citrusy and easy drinking, may need few more years to further develop. Pinot was the highlight, perfectly balanced, a joy to drink now.

An unusual tasting of Tasmanian wines tonight.

Hughes and Hughes Pinot noir on the left,Dornfelder on the right.

Both really too young. The dornfelder much darker and basically purple in colour.A lot of tannin but surprisingly smooth and nice drinking.Prefer it to the pinot.
However having a plate of my wallaby massuman curry and as wallaby is described by some as the pinot noir of meats it had to get a run.

Hotpot and bbq wagyu season, only had warm sake for the whole week. Good stuff with fatty meat.

This is full of oak, black fruits, berries and plums and dark chocolate ,still very young as the fruit still fresh and vibrant ,reminds me of some good old school shiraz.

The Blue Poles Vineyard monthly news letter/email arrived overnight with updated drinking windows on almost all of their wines (seems they found something to keep them busy during the lock down... ;) ) along with the 2012, it lists a 2009 Teroldego.

For the '12 it notes Round and attractive, come tannic grip, sweet length - Drink up - 4yrs
